Eye-Fi Connect X2 Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) 4GB memory card with Wi-Fi (optional)

Customer Review

In August 2010, I have a 4GB EyeFi card bought in the US (Connect X2). This has in my former Canon SX210IS works immediately. The installation of the software on the PC EyeFi was also quite easy. The former versions were included firmware still quite vulnerable, but it did thanks to the updates everything improved.
The only configuration Flair Wireless works with the software quite well so far.
The problem arises when open WLANs in public places (cafes, etc.) to be configured. Where indeed WLAN connection is working free, but the first browser window usually something needs to be clicked, denied the EyeFi WLAN Config.
But especially in the United States can be the hot spot subscription Add for one year.
This means that almost all public WLANs are available. In Germany there are not so many hot spots that can be used.
But in bars, restaurants etc. which worked great. Pictures. Preliminary set so that only the protected images will be uploaded. EyeFi turned and uploaded in the restaurant etc. the images straight to Picasa, Facebook etc.

If you go to his PC has software active and it has set so that the images are to be saved equal to the local PC, the backup copy is also equal to the home PC. For me it was very convenient ... then took pictures in the US and at home you could see the pictures and see the same on the PC.
The upload speed is not very exhilarating. But reached for most requirements. In my new 18MP SLR but is now marginal, because the images are very large and need so much longer.

Reach of the EyeFi map is useful. Repeater is in the living room and 10m further on the terrace is the transference wonderful.
There is always a small miracle that this already so small SD card still has WiFi function.
Geotagging comes with the subscription quite well. However, appropriate WLANs to be close, so that the card can collect coordinates. There is no GPS module present.
As far as you can see the geotagging information but good use.

Configuration is as in other recessions addressed somewhat cumbersome in terms of WLAN Config.
If you already want to configure an example pre-Fi, because you want to carry around without a laptop, that's not possible. The PC who wants to configure the software EyeFi the EyeFi card must be integrated into the WLAN so that it can equally test the connection.
If of course you all have it and configures the card then there is no problem in the future. Then the card logs of course, purely in the WLAN.

SUPPORT:
Just over a year after the purchase of EyeFi card I suddenly had the problem that the card could not upload more pictures. Although it has seen on the router the EyeFi card that log files have also indicated that the card in the WLAN is in it, but that's about it.
The support has, however, despite some more negative experiences in other recessions works very well with me.
There were in the first two messages and standard answers, but for detailed information on the support has been researched and found very intensely on a problem that the card is defective. Although the card was over 1 year old, was purchased in the United States, support for Europe has to send me a brand new map. The old woman went back and subscriptions purchased from me were also adjusted.
That was really a great support.

RESUME:
After almost 2 years EyeFi use I do not want to miss the map. The practical benefits of the card is huge for my needs. Merely a slightly larger card is probably due soon.
Improvement would in my view necessary for WLAN configuration. Preliminary Config would be helpful (if one SSID and WIFI Key stocks).
The upload speed could be even better, but if you want to always just a few snapshots upload just once, to set the camera stop times ne quarter of an hour now and I can do it.
If you'd like to upload a nearly full EyeFi card with 4GB, then it may well be that the camera's battery as a preliminary to the disposal (meets at least on my Canon SX210IS and EOS 550D to).
