I have the Palit GTX970 in a relatively old PC (Fujitsu with Core 2 Quad, 4 GB of DDR 2 RAM, 500 GB HDD, PCIe 2.0) installed. And I have exchanged the existing power supply with a new 600 W power supply. The Palit GTX970 ran reliably from the start. The graphics card replaced the previous PNY GT640. Since there was already reason NVIDIA drivers, the required new drivers installed automatically within several minutes. So far I could not detect any weaknesses. Our games run (with never before achieved in resolution settings and Datailanzeige) quickly, smoothly and without error that might be caused by the graphics card. Since we the volume was never really important, the CPU fan and the over-fitting case fans are probably the loudest. The graphics card we had in terms of the volume - at least so far - never really noticed. Power-hungry games who dabble along the current limit could probably change. Again for the future: Regular cleaning of the fan and heat sink makes the noise bearable .. :) I'll see how it all looks in a few months.
The appearance of the graphics card, I find not so cheap. This is certainly a matter of taste. But seems important to me that very effectively serve the goal of the design, to guide cooling air to be heated over a short distance from the fan on the graphics chip and the memory of the PC.
