Falk S450 Navigation System incl. TMCpro starter (10.9 cm display, maps the whole of Europe, premium map service, 3D terrain, Guided Tours, City Active Learning Navigation) (Electronics)
So I have the Falk S450 for almost 2 months and am very happy with it. For the offered price you get a very well-functioning navigation device that also looks good. First of all, the most important of Navigation: So far, the Falk has always properly navigated, the announcements come in time (which is not always self-evident, once had a Becker Z109 and as always the order came to turn when at the exit was almost over) and are easy to understand (you can select 2 different speaker male or female), but you should not select the maximum volume to which it is somewhat distorted. One can for the screen display various options Select (only arrow, split screen and more), which is very convenient: it is possible that the symbols you'd have in fast access, define themselves. The display itself offers a good view and does not reflect the operation is done by finger pressure on the display so you also no longer requires a protective film, as with the devices that are operated by stylus. The mounting of the device on the holding plate is done by means of a magnet, which has the advantage that can break anything on the bracket. The housing was "kept very slim (compared to my Medion P4410 (also 4.3" despite 4.3 it feels almost tiny in front) and the entire unit makes a good impression processed. What led me eventually to purchase this Navis would on the one hand the good price (I have the complete European version with 2 Years' card subscription), if you look around once what other manufacturers new map material costs (eg Medion 99.- with TMC Pro) you can complain about certainly not, the possibility of the Navi with a Micro SDHC card up to 16 GB + 4 GB upgrade internal memory and therefore for the future to have some "air" (the tom-tom devices such as have this possibility usually only in the more expensive models), the maps should definitely Navteq be (have thus far had the best experience) and the Marco Polo travel guide (if you can be called something looks for information on such a small device that is already the madness, earlier you would have as a suitcase full city maps, guides ect. must take). You can on the Falk Navi Manager still very much create or download more (intelligent routes themselves, create their own tours on a PC and download it to the Navi and god knows what (all for me is not so important and I am much too lazy :-)) Also beneficial are the Lane Assistant, which is real display of motorway signs (only on some highway to see departures) and the Tunnel Wizard. But there are also a few points of criticism: on the one hand, the device needs a long time when it turns on until it is ready for operation (about 2-3 minutes estimated) at my Medion one turns on the device and it is ready for use, but if you switches you know the unit a halt before leaving the house. Could the connection for the power supply practical (either on the side or on the back wall) he is down on the device and the angle plug built right on big, so you have to install the machine somewhat higher above the Armarturenbrett (which, however, again by the compact equipment is relativized dimensions) and extras such as TMC-Pro or a speed camera detector have to pay extra (if you want to have it) but I've had several Navi`s and each had advantages and disadvantages. But the sum of all the properties I am very satisfied with the Falk and I would buy me at any time. Just a note to the map update: if you have registered with Falk and new map material is available, you get an email. The first update I've recently installed without problems (DSL 2000 connection but you should at least have).
