When I grew my lens a few weeks ago, I was on the images less than enthusiastic and had the impression that the kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm 1: 3.5-4.5 IS STM) at least as good, rather even better (sharper) images makes. I then looked around in various forums and terms such as "decentralization", "front focus", "back focus", etc. snapped and was the opinion of my lens has one or the other of these shortcomings, and perhaps comes from a production Monday. I was actually already certain that I will send the lens back. Luckily, I've got it I still changed his mind
I am not a complete novice when it comes to photography, but with a wide angle I have never concerned me closer. Meanwhile, I am of the opinion, the problem is not the objective, but I do. Since then I was able to gather some experience and have a lot rumprobiert. But am at a wide-angle of course still in its infancy. There are also (unprocessed) comparison pictures on the net (Hab which found on photo zone. They were made with an EOS350D and an EOS 20D. If I compare this with my, I see virtually no difference.). One of course always reverted to the top images that others have made, but ignored here is that these are often sharpened / reworked.
Anyway, I think now, my lens is fine. My paintings are now already much better. You just have to practice, try and just sometimes make a few more thoughts on the appropriate shooting conditions. (And the automatic programs take a not necessarily from). There are certainly among the EF-S 10-22 lens defective copies, but I guess that 'defects' are often found behind the camera. A good lens does not by itself good photos.
(Oh yeah, one more thing: The comparison EF-S 10-22 against the kit lens EF-S 18-55mm natural lags several reasons That should not make actually a wide-angle is just a wide-angle, with all.. pros and cons.)
