Part until late at night Martins characters have me kept alive. Rarely, if ever I have experienced it, that a book really motivates me further and further reading. Towards the end I could not stop, and after the last page I put immediately clean the sample chapter of the sixth book that Martin has published on its website.
What some call the boredom, is in reality the comprehensive design of the scenario and the characters. One can accuse the authors that he has exaggerated in Band 4, where figures like Brienne or Arya had hardly experienced the book long something interesting. The no longer applies to this fifth band. Each character goes through ups and downs, so many character drives the fate of half the (fictional) world. And the language is always noble and captivating to understand English with a few exceptions wonderful. I personally would like to for weeks so more.
The big advantage over tape 4: The "actual" main characters Tyrion, Daenerys, Jon Snow and Bran are back on the field again. That same missing all four, made the fourth volume "A Feast for Crows" despite the exciting action in Kings Landing a little less exciting. Now all are back again, and the plot drives on multiple levels of action inexorably towards a climax.
Unfortunately the author cheating a bit here: While the books 2 and 3 this highlight not only contrary exaggerated, but also reached him at the end, Volume 5 ends unfortunately at all levels with a huge cliffhanger. The battles which are emerging both in the North and in Mereen not happen at the end (yet). Victarion Also Greyjoy or Jon Connington experience the big showdown probably only at the beginning of Volume 6 of Daenerys and Jon Snow Not to mention, the cliffhanger is as it were universal.
That may also be one reason why the author took so long with the book: The story drives with innumerable figures (for the Stargate Kucker excruciatingly) slow, and there is still something new exciting addition, and in the end he is then not finish. Certainly it was then the decision to place six now to target seven books. Pity you will have to wait so long until the sixth volume will at last be on sale ...
To clarify: in spite of the many cliffhangers at the end of course, happens quite a lot more. • Although the great battles a la Blackwater yet to come, but just happened in Mereen much good stuff (I only say: Dragons), and the last chapter Theon I could hardly sit still. The epilogue brings then - as in Band 3 - again a totally unexpected twist that really came out of the blue for me. It is so powerful that offered - and there is still so much left for the next volume ...
For me this book as yet the whole saga is a masterpiece, linguistically and content. I never thought that I can devour 960 pages as fast. And my nightly trips to Westeros will fail me for the next time certainly very. Thank George RR Martin, and I wish you good health and strength, so the saga can continue as soon as possible!
