"A Better Tomorrow" is unfortunately the weakest album of the clan, but not bad for me with 3.5 Stars!
But now to the album itself:
Warning: I am referring first to the "Singles" or the tracks before the date of publication
Album came out, then to the rest of the time being. I think the rape / flows / Lyrics of 8 members (9 with Cappadonna)
really have not abated so I rate the interaction / audio experience of the lyrics / flows / song with the beats !!!
I will not go into what I liked best rapper on the songs, but
What has struck me so / thing that bothered me or what I was just good!
First came a track out of was called "Family Reunion", the one could be free (or fürn dollars or so)
Pull on Bandcamp, what I was doing well. The production took the piece of RZA!
When I heard him I thought my only: "Hm, well somehow alittle bit cheesy!"
The samples I did not really great. Although adapted to the concept of the song, but rather not for me.
The track was also renamed to "Wu-Tang Reunion" and was chosen as "outro song" ... 2.5 / 5
As the first single "Keep Watch" came out I was not really flashed, but it was no disappointment.
The track was produced by Mathematics. I found the singer not really fit,
otherwise always very "soulful" singers like Blue Raspberry or Tekitha were selected for singing hooks ... Nach'n couple times but go hear clearly ^^ Well probably because I Singing Rapper / Men
just not my cup of tea (except Nate Dogg and a few other Außnahmen ^^)
At the time I thought me what else is new from the album will be can not be worse.
But at the moment I find the track very well done and something is a shame that it
are other pieces on the album that can keep up with him ... 4.5 / 5
A little later came the single (or track whatever) "Ron O'Neal" out. Produced by RZA!
I found the track quite well. More not.
Many have commented on Youtube to track the RZA's beats have become wack and the
all this is no longer the same and something ... because I thought I just chill, bad is the beat in no case
but not ultramegadope ... I bet there come Tracks on the new album weghauen the one!
4/5 for "Ron O'Neal"
A few weeks later came "Ruckus in B Minor" out, which at the time I already NEN
Ticks found better than the previous two tracks. It was produced by RZA and Rick Rubin.
He was also elected Opening track and I think that fits well so ...
but somehow would I the song even with singles like "Gravel Pit" or "Protect Ya Neck" Compare ...
So somehow lacking that certain something !! 4/5
Then came "Necklace" out ... I thought so "Wow" ... but nothing more.
I do not care that noticed as a sample found the just a little bit too early and starts
thus the right gloomy Beat wrecking something, or does perhaps abstract ...
I can somehow until now not decide. But is quite a doper track! This time of S. Bougard
(Aka 4th Disciple) produced. (I do not know why in the Producer credit on the back once 4th Disciple
stand for Miracle and S. Bougard for Necklace have !! Are both the same producer ...) 4/5
As I have so been thinking about the previous songs, I did not want to give up hope that there is still
'Nen right Banger enter is ...
Shortly before the release came here in Germany the same song to the album title "A Better Tomorrow" out!
Since I have something very profound expected, but was rather disappointed because I do not abkonnte the beat and singing ...
So do not get me wrong, the song is very usual tiefrgündig as Wu-Tang.
The hook was sampled from some 70s song ... but the track is just not my taste.
(Not misunderstand the same: it's my taste if anyone the album are 5 star and it is celebrating.
then let him. Is aufjeden great if people like about the album found!)
I also find it a bit unimaginative that there are already 2 tracks from the Wu-Tang Clan are called "A Better Tomorrow".
So the first version was a lot better! 3/5 for the new version!
So now to the remaining tracks. Since I shall be a little shorter! I'll start at the top:
"Felt": beautiful rehearsed samples (Sorry, but I'm not really sure of all tracks which instruments of
RZA or other recorded for the album and what was sampled! But read that quite a lot of
Instruments that have been occurring for recordet album !!!)
This electronic in the background is not really my thing. Still a pretty good track! 3.5 / 5
"40th Street Black / We Will Fight": I find OK to good. Produced by Mathematics (Co-produced by RZA: is in the booklet but not on the back) A bit better than "Felt" 4/5
"Mistaken Identity": Prod by RZA.! horny guitar parts and beautiful bass. Method Man fits well in here, and U-God has NEN
nicen Part! 4/5
"Hold The Heater": Beat of RZA! At first I thought: "Oh God, the electro sound does not fit well ..." but then the track goes really clear! 4/5
"Crushed egos": Produced by Adrian Younge (co-produced by RZA) ... geeeeht, nothing really special
and partly to loud bass lines - 3/5
"Miracle": Produced by 4th Disciple (co-produced by RZA) Great Message and really phat beat, I very
-ABER- guess the song makes me happy it down ... just for Wu to inappropriate, this sounds more like
nem bad Disney movie ... unfortunately is not clear though I beat from the beat celebration ... the change
towards the end is not, and then make an on Rock'n'Roll ........... 2.5 / 5
"Preacher's Daughter": Prod by RZA.! The title sounds boring and so the track is also, though my guitar / horns to the beat already fallen, but naaaaaaja ... 3/5
"The Frontier Pioneer": Produced by RZA! Here was trying to make a 36 Chambers-Style!
Is also partially succeeded. Quite abstract beat. Even the ODB Sample (Enter the Wu-Tang zone)
I really liked. But that certain something is missing to make it back to nem 5/5 track - so rather 4.5 / 5
"Never Let Go": Again from RZA. Skip Track / filler track, too many drums consecutively and song I do not like .. 2/5
That was it !! I have the album now 2 - 3 times by part and that's my opinion on it!
I have the album really gave ne chance and I'm just not flashed: somehow lacks even the
best tracks that certain something (as I have already mentioned several times) but I do not want it as bad
stamp !! Bin yes finally no Hater who finds everything sucks and the album is only 1 star!
The problem is, I think, the RZA always trying to evolve, although many its typical
Appreciate sound. The album can be off and give time to time, but nothing more ...
But it comes so soon the new Ghostface album out there and there will always be something of fat
Wu-Tang appear -> So Wu-Tang 4 Ever !!!!
Peace !!
