I had some Headphones - mainly from Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic in class to 200. I use headphones for several hours a day - so I change them every 2-3 years, as they still noticeably loses its shine and vitality, or simply be utterly boring , Looking for a new headset I've encountered about 1.5 years and some research prior to the X1. At first I was flabbergasted but also skeptical about all the insane positive accolades in tests and reviews - I just could not believe that of all Philips can compete with the 500 class from Sennheiser and Co.. Have the X1 therefore compared in a shop with the Sennheiser from the 600 series, and pretty quickly realized that the X1 was balanced almost perfectly for my taste - quite apart from the price / performance ratio again, this is in my opinion almost unbeatable. I hear most complex electronics, Chiptunes, Psychedelic, Psytrace and Dubstep (only the good stuff;) - but also Industrial, New Beat, Agrotech - every now and then heavy metal, but also a lot of classical music and New Classic. The earphones must therefore, considering my application range, can cover quite a spectrum. The X1 has been able to overcome this with a Asus Xonar Essence STX with flying colors - the balance of bass, bass, midrange and treble is excellent at X1. The headset makes its bass performance and response time just having fun, the details in the central region is not lost in the bass - dissecting therefore also makes a lot of fun and never gets boring. So much for the X1. Since September / October I now have the preliminary tests (eg: innerfidelity.com) of X2 pursued - also with astonishment, as they again failed consistently extremely positive. Many claimed that Philips would now outbid final and clear with the X2, the Sennheiser 600 series and would now be involved at all in the 1000 class. Of course I was blown away and had my part necessarily get, although I was very pleased the X1 / bin and only 1.5 years had gone by, I have the X2 blindly ordered from Amazon. Yes, what is there now to say X2, which has not been said for X1 or X2? -actually Nothing. As mentioned multiple times makes the X2 in the mids and highs partly substantially more, but lost some one on bass, but this is not a problem because he this "weakness" by a significantly improved response time and the disclosure of details in the midrange and treble again compensates. Because I can tell already, although I only own one day to X2 and so far only heard electronics. Now worth the switch from X1 to X2? -In My opinion, yes. Although there are 300 that you invest for seemingly little improvements, but in the long run I'll -and the X2 running definitely longer than my previous headphone it is worth buying. Especially for intensive users are the advantages of more detail in the mids and highs, replaceable ear pads, ME improved / tighter jack not be dismissed out of hand. I regret the purchase in any way - but am now considering whether I should sell my X1 or not. I sincerely hope that Philips in the future with the X3 or X4 even still shows higher ambitions. It's not really my type 1000 output for headphones, but when Philips was to advance in this price range, I would join. Never have headphones so much fun as the X1 and X2. I take my hat off Philips - always keep it up.
