Dell U2413 61 cm (24 inch) LED monitor (DVI, HDMI, 6ms response time, height adjustable) black (accessories)

Customer Review

I have for years two NEC MultiSync 2080UXi for reasonably stable color graphics work. They should now be replaced with two 24 "and almost complete AdobeRGB coverage. Factory calibration speak for Dell to sRGB and Adobe RGB (the latter is, according to tests also be pretty good), a model from 2013, USB 3.0, and of course the budget price. In theory, it can also 10 Bit (1.07 billion colors) via DisplayPort. But it requires a suitable 10-bit graphics card (Nvidia Quadro or AMD FireGL).

I now have three U2413 here and am not thrilled. All three have different color temperatures, despite the same setting. During two slightly too warm (reddish) are, is a far too cool (bluish). The gradients of Granger Rainbows look good, gray gradients gradually but quickly ugly from. One whistles with brightness values higher than 40%. About HDMI monitors not wake up from standby, but must be switched on and off again. The supplied DisplayPort cable are ridiculously short (~ 75 cm) and so unusable. But especially disturbing is a white shadow in moving from high-contrast image content (eg when scrolling black text on a white background.) - At any brightness. This is likely to ensure the internal overdrive to the panel velocity for games, but is very disturbing and can not be disabled. The uniform illumination, especially in the lower right area, also leaves much to be desired. On dark background it turns slightly greenish, on a light background you go into Magenta. The menu is simple and understandable, but chops happily to himself. All other color modes than AdobeRGB are questionable: sRGB is not well calibrated, paper actually makes white to green-yellow instead of the contrast to reduce, films should we watch with a blue tinge and Multimedia look green. For whatever reason ...

Moreover, I have no comfort features such as an automatic brightness control depending on the screen contents and / or ambient light. Or a fast way between two brightness settings to jump back and forth (eg. Text, images / video).

Ultimately - it must be said in retrospect - should have been clear that Dell can not build a top monitor near the NEC / Eizo league for half the money. I never went to it more accurate color representation, but what I have here in front of me, I do not even suitable for surfing. I also do not know who I could recommend this monitor. Anyone looking for a good office monitor with IPS panel, is better and cheaper model - also from Dell. Semi-amateurs who are looking for a pre-calibrated monitor get here no, or with extreme variations in quality, and fight with the overdrive in office use. Professionals who stare at non-moving pictures must recalibrate it definitely - and that's not easy for wide gamut monitors. Then you can equal access to NEC or Eizo. I give it definitely back.
