Several months ago I was waiting to finally throw myself on following the saga. When I bought it, I managed to read it as soon as possible because it is a series that I really like, the first volume having been a heart stroke. Subsequently, my impressions have made waves, there has been little negative peaks, including the third volume then it was again positive but the negative regained top to finally finish on a rather positive opinion on the seventh tome. For Freed, my opinion is much more mixed. I really hesitated before putting the note I assigned but be aware that it's limit and a 2.5 / 5 would be more correct. This is the first time I had so much trouble immerse myself in the world of The House of Night. I dreaded my reading because I know that history has changed between the first and eighth tome and I'm afraid not love at all the saga when it is completed. Throughout the novel, I felt a feeling of remoteness, I really felt that the story was about the creatures of the night, namely the Vampires. The world of bloodsuckers is not as good as transcribed in the previous volumes. The story has taken on new proportions, very different. I do not like it. Also, Zoey is much less present as she is the main character, the character at the heart of the action. It's not that I do not like the other protagonists. Rather, I am much attached to me some and I found myself having affection and pity for Kalona times. Nevertheless, it's that I want Zoey and different points of view are too important to me. My inability to return immediately in history is also explained by the fact that the first half of the novel is really bland. There is nothing going on, I'm bored, there were no outstanding and I did not feel any strong emotion. Some situations were resolved simply too much in the genre "Josephine Ange Gardien, I snaps fingers! ". However, what bothered me the most is the style of the authors. I never pay much attention before, probably because since the last time I read one of the volumes of the saga, I read better books property. They wanted to show that they knew talked like teenagers age Zoey except that it sounded completely false and superficial. To be honest, I had the impression that we prenaients for immature people ... Another troublesome point and then I really wonder if it comes from the authors or the translator: the problem of "Who by the? "Or" Who does what? ". Let me explain. At one point in the book, it is written that Neferet did something. Outside, it is not at all Neferet who does, this is Nyx. This type of error happens repeatedly. It may be nothing to some people but I think it's still something important enough to be deceived like that ... You can imagine that if I did not put zero to this book is that I still enjoy a minimum. I always assume that if I start reading a book, I'm going to the end even if I do not. It is very, very rare that I leave a book so I forced myself to continue Freed (yes, I have had times when I wanted to drop in and read another). I am happy to respect this principle because once exceeded the first half of the novel, the story becomes more interesting. Zoey is a little more present, the action is back together with the suspense that keeps you from letting go of the book and requires you to read the book to the last word. The end takes a surprising turn positive, although I'm not sure I appreciate what will follow in the next volumes on certain relations Zoey. I shall say no more. So despite a very slow start, very annoying and irritating, this eighth volume was still good, although way. I would read the result obviously but I think the fear will always be present.
