I find that Le Clezio is at its best in short novels. "Chance" had totally upset me there many years and "Storm" confirms me that this is his best medium. First, the style, the elegance of its French is so involved. One would like to write or speak in such a way. The story is interesting, a bit mysterious places, and always the sea. For a man who lives in the desert (Albuquerque!) That love and fear the sea and descriptions are amazing and so true (same in "Chance" ). The characters are always unexpected (prepubertal girls and men of a certain age who agree, is seeking, are, at the limit of normal, but ultimately very healthy. I like
