Purchased from Amazon and delivered quickly. The hub runs with me on the old notebook and the new Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet. Both Windows 8.1. On Yoga2 about 36,6MB / s can be achieved at USB2, which indeed has only the USB2 port. Am alten Notebbok the old chipset from Notebook limited to about 28MB / s. On Yoga2 makes also good that the hub has an external power supply, because the Yoga2 can provide not even 2.5-inch hard drives with power. The Hub for bundled USB power cable is 80cm long. The stroke is recognized after plugging immediately. In the Device Manager then dives but on a yellow exclamation mark on the USB devices. After a long click through the USB devices in Device Manager to get behind that a generic hub was detected. But what about the yellow exclamation mark?. About the included mini-CD to get on the USB3 to Ethernet driver on the chipset of ASIX, which lies in outdated version on the CD. A Installing this does nothing. Only on the HP of ASIX to get to the latest drivers for Windows 8.1. Important !! If you still have installed the old USB3 to Ethernet driver on the CD, only uninstall it via 'Programs and Features' and then take the new driver and see there - Goes yet - has only again time lasted that hinzukriegen. Possibly restart the computer or tablet. Then appears under Network adapters also the corresponding entry and LAN connection course goes.
The installed chip is called ASIX AX88179 USB3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.
All other drivers on the CD need not, therefore, only the current of ASIX for jeweilge operating system, Linux, MacOS, Windows, of which HP.
Advantage: on the ASIX-HP to get at least a documentation of the installed chips, because the CD is not a plan.
Because of this, once again not inconsiderable time required, I had all the drivers by played by the CD, there is only 4 stars.
Addendum of 02/12/2015:
The meantime, the hub is not working well: LAN connection no longer goes, external hard drives no longer go, despite the help of an external power supply, because the power of the stroke is no longer sufficient, USB sticks it creates yet - Conclusion: not really suitable Therefore, a depreciation of 4 stars to 1 star, maybe it was a 'Monday device'
