I bought in January the LG 55LW4500 through Amazon. The first impression was very good and the enthusiasm at the start great. With the Bildeinstellugen and colors I was however not at all satisfied (previously had a plasma). In forums but I have found very good settings so that the image is now tidy. This means that the image enhancer must be asked my opinion all to "OFF" and "local dimming" to "ON". I could compare the picture with a current Samsung LCD / LED and a current Panasonic plasma TV. The Samsung had the sharpest of the three devices and the Panasonic also a sharp picture and the best colors and most importantly, a very well-lit picture without "banding" and "Clouding". Had the Panasonic added with 3D Polfiltertechnik, I would have taken it.
The playback is done with me exclusively via external devices which are connected to an amplifier and passed on from there to the Fenrnseher. Thus, I do not use the built-in tuner and the sound does not come at me from the TV but through external speakers.
The operation is easy and has to date not represent any problems.
What is good, what less ?:
These are a middle-class television at a fair price. The Polfiltertechnik is great and inexpensive. Unfortunately, with the current technology, the image is reduced by half in the resolution. I sit 4 meters from the 55 "device Kosljunska and can very clearly see the individual scan lines. Again and again" jagged edges ". The picture in 3D mode only 540p, which is less than the normal PAL TV (DVDs) with 576p. It .. are many people who convince themselves, you do not see the difference That's nonsense However, if you have only a 37 "or 42" TV and then it sits still 4 or 5 meters, which may be true)
As already described, the picture is after a few settings quite good to very good.
Among the problems that some people notice and disturbing, and some do not ...:
The unit has (like all LCD / LED TV) a sichbares "Clouding". In the corners bright clouds are seen, sometimes in the middle of the screen. By hiring local dimming can reduce this effect. Negative is also the "banding" or "DSE (Dirty Screen Effect)" call. When taking panning shots (for example: in football or even very visible in "rent, buy, live on VOX) can be seen in the background, fixed, bright image areas that extend vertically The image is not uniformly illuminated..
Furthermore, it was with me so that the top and bottom of the screen larger dark patches were seen (like shadows) that interfered with striking. The unit fell and was replaced by a new one.
The newly delivered 55LW4500 has a slightly better-leuchtes image and even less "banding" / "DSE". This is a stronger "Clouding", especially seen in the corners. I have to live well, because I know no alternative ...
A good mid-range televisions for little money. Problems such as "Clouding" and "banding" also have the other manufacturers. About the LG TV I have read repeatedly that this would have a large series of scattering. So it's a matter of luck whether you get a device with fewer or more problems. As I once exchanged and the second TV was better actually, that will probably agree too;)
Who wants to buy a 3D TV with Polfiltertechnik now and can not wait should strike here.
