So now the new plant. Overall impression: Very nice!
The opening track begins softly, quietly, spherical and produces a beautiful sound tapestry with calm vocals of Chris. Not reinventing the wheel or even the whole band, but still beautiful.
With Magic follows the first single that I have found very difficult to judge when they released. The song is nice, well kept quiet, a bit reticent, yet beautiful, but tear off the stool, it does not!
Ink is a classic Coldplay song. Melodic, finally with a bit of Acoustic Guitar and vocal band. Problem: This kind of song it was Coldplay too often in much better copy. For me, one of the weaker moments.
True love is also very classic Coldplay sound, again rather calm and gentle, melodic, some parts actually remember X & Y times. I liked it.
Midnight is finally innovation, Coldplay goes electric. Well, actually the song is in a logical sequence of the first music pieces. Very quiet, spherical, angry words, something gurgling. Maybe not so great, the innovation, you think fast, although the distorted voice of Chris already surprised. In some places melodically very beautiful, but overall like Magic: no stool-thriller.
Another's Arms is a total of a bit boring. Again melodically quite nice, calm, gentle .... bla, I repeat myself. Was the quiet atmosphere of the first songs still pleasant, it starts here something to annoy, because the song to a certain extent the highlights missing.
Oceans pulls the rudder rum again, because even if it is the 7th quiet song in succession, it is nice (you will again hear again Acoustic Guitar, inarguable Coldplay sound, pity that they so rarely randarf to Ghost Stories - I Schwenke in thought briefly Yellow, become a bit sad and yet am about Oceans). One of the strongest songs for me.
A sky full of stars, the holy grail of the plate. Sacrilege to some, the zeroing in on the presence of Mr. Avicii - the highlight of the plate might say the other (I at least), since it briefly tears out of the slight lethargy, strong will, loud, yet total Coldplay remains. The intro is wonderful and it is briefly tried to think about what can be had from the song when he was so gone, without Avicii. Nevertheless, I think that the song has the most presence at the plate. The strongest he's not, but he gets stuck, you keep him in the head. Not the best, but the most striking song of the record - I would dub it.
The conclusion provides O and it is quiet again, what a surprise. Not bad, but an average piece, also splashing too much to himself and to me - as did many pieces of the plate - to sparsely exploited.
Well, now it's through that album and I stay back a little hesitant. Was that a successful experiment? Was it ever a?
Who has accused the band, they produce increasingly stadium-compatible Pop-pieces, is refuted. Those who accuse the band, they jump on the latest mainstream train on, is not fully confirmed. It is Coldplay, despite everything. Or perhaps because of? Classify the album, I find it difficult as you remember.
It was nice, maybe a bit boring. Boring beautiful. Or (very) pretty boring?
Conclusion: 3-4 stars!
