I fotographiere exclusively in RAW. With my old camera, the EOS 400D with 10MP, a RAW file was always 9-10KB large. The EOS 5D has 12 MP and the RAW files will be 12-13,5KB, a photo walk with 250 images now occupies 3.3 GB on the hard disk. How many photos and how much they make so Speichplatz they have? And that now takes considerably longer than with the smaller files of the EOS 400D. Still WHAT CAMERA SELF:
Especially in low light conditions, the images with the EOS 5D and shoulders above in Crop cameras, not for nothing that she is one of the professional cameras. We had now at a family party of internally illuminated decorative balls with diameter 80-100cm who have changed from time to time their color. The event for all the children at the party and night out the photo motif for all those who had a camera with me. To my knowledge, I have succeeded in these light conditions with the 5D as a single, good images of children around the balls to shoot around, all other cameras had to throw in the towel in this lighting situation. This shows me the possibilities of full-frame with its higher dynamic range and the quality of the EOS 5D in particular. The only thing on the camera is really bothering me, she has no automatic sensor cleaning. That is the only point where I would like to see a newer model.
If the whole thing should be something negative came over, that was not my intention. The EOS 5D is of high quality, makes very good pictures, is robust and I can recommend it whole-heartedly, so indeed 5 star. Who will venture to enter in full frame (YES - DO IT, it is worth), for which it is a real treasure and one of the most inexpensive ways for the transition. But I hope I have made to one or the other point on full frame belongs when switching to it and perhaps should already be considered in advance. (All this is also on to when they are set equal to a 6d or 5D Mark III.) And if the transition to the full-size with you for whatever reason, should not always be possible: with all other cameras can be very good photos shoot. Addendum of 02/26/2015: a few days ago I had dealt with the question whether the transfer shot with the EOS 5D pictures during photo shoots directly to a connected computer and can be displayed for inspection on screen (tethered shooting, eg on Lightroom ). Unfortunately this is not possible because Canon has created at that time only Windows drivers for the then 32-bit operating systems. For the current operating systems on 64-bit-based (Windows Vista, Windows 7 & 8) is part of Canon never a driver created. But this is absolutely necessary for remote control of the camera or on a tethered shooting. In my view, an unfortunate downside, of my very good overall impression of the 5D does not diminish: I still look through the camera, their quality and the potential of their images.
