+ Slim housing (9.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm), which lies comfortably in your hand.
+ Good workmanship - only the battery / SD card cover looks a bit rickety and could be a potential weak spot. He also has no spring mechanism, making the SD and battery change sometimes fiddly.
+ Image quality is convincing for a compact camera. I was particularly impressed that macro shots that turn out well already from a close range of 1 (!) Cm.
+ The autofocus works quickly and reliably.
+ In addition to the automatic mode, there are numerous scene modes and creative filters (z. B. Miniature, Fisheye, Toy Camera Effect or Monochrome filter).
+ Using the "Function Image Effect Live" can be adjusted as the image brightness and color intensity on the display before you shoot over slider settings.
+ Camera has a decent optical zoom 24-240 mm (in small picture relative).
+ Built-in flash is adequate both in terms of reach and uniformity of illumination for a camera in this league.
+/- The maximum aperture of F3,0-6,9 is not exactly bright. This is partly offset by the automatic image stabilizer which is reliable and brings out the best possible focus.
+/- Exposure compensation is unfortunately not set on a rotary multi selector, but the menu - which is somewhat cumbersome and time consuming. For each image, although there is a histogram, but in a highlight display has been omitted.
+/- Footage in Full HD quality (720p) - but the IXUS is a camera and definitely no substitute for a camcorder.
- There is no macro-scene mode so you always photographed with relatively shallow depth of field. This is especially annoying because the macro pictures are actually very good.
- The menu navigation is very intuitive and functions partly spread illogical on several function keys (for example, the auto-focus programs require settings under the "Menu" and "Auto".)..
- There is no (semi-) manual mode to specify the exposure and shutter speed. This limits the design options a very strong.
- Under high magnification on the screen (in the optical zoom range) to sharpness artifacts reveal the image.
- As with compact cameras usual, was dispensed with an optical viewfinder. But on the monitor, the sharpness control is difficult - especially in direct sunlight.
-. Auto Exposure Bracketing, eg for HDR photography, missing.
- No GPS or WiFi / NFC.
- Bag and SD card are not included.
Overall, a decent Compact, which provides a their price range reasonable, but not outstanding performance. A beautiful "Always-In-Camera".
