Packaging of SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive:
Packaged was the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive in a compact box. Small, bright red and the weight already considerable. Enclosed is a quick guide as folder and the actual device. When unpacking it turned out that the board was not responsible for the weight, but the drive itself. Solid metal, weight and robust. Only my first thought was "Metal and WLAN - is not a contradictory combination?", But more on that later.
Quick Guide of SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive:
The Quick Start Guide does not last long with extensive descriptions, but is short and straight to the point. Short and sweet is explained, as is the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive to use and store. But in German language effectively reaches the surface of a double postcard. As a Dutch manufacturer can with a penchant for folding instructions once a leaf ;-).
Commissioning of SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive:
So read instructions and just tried to switch on the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive. Okay, I might have known almost: the built-in battery was ratzeleer. So I thought, part load the meantime out and install on the smartphone and tablet Apps matching.
Said and done. Simply plug it to your laptop and it ensured that the yellow LED indicator lights. Well, they did not. Shock! Well, then the other USB port. The next port itself did nothing again. On the third and fourth, it finally went. How to look after accurate Mr. exhibited, the first two were trying Seckplätze seriously USB were 3.0 (!). And that seems the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive at least on my HP laptop does not seem to like. Any other USB stick does at these ports without any problems his ministry. I suspect there is a small incompatibility between USB 3.0 chipset / driver and the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive.
However, the good piece invited now yes on USB 2.0 slot and was recognized by the laptop as an external drive. Curious how you are, you ransacked directly above the specified folder and meets with video instructions. One by one started and watched. Ever a good idea. However, they need - in my opinion - again another post.
They take only very compact, the most important steps together. Unless very laudable. But the combined presentation of Android and Apple iOS systems should lead to slight confusion in some less experienced users. Then better consider the systems separately and perhaps integrate the video into a program or stored on the stick website and offer there a pre-selection of the system used. Thus, an Android user is not by chance in contact with iOS instructions, searching for nonexistent menu items.
In spite of all the video instruction is a very attractive option to the classic paper or PDF version. The PDF version is also available on the stick and is clearly in the depths of all possibilities of ScanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive.
Next to the drive - after almost one and a half hours of built-in battery was then charged and the device could be turned on for the first time. And here comes the first sticking point. Power on by long pressing the key only available may sound simple. However, when you turn, there is at least not immediately, a status message on the LEDs whether now switched successfully, or has been turned off. Only after a few seconds will flash momentarily the blue LED. This could have been solved more elegant.
Suggestion:
Switching - Blue LED blinks when you press quickly 5x.
Deactivating - Yellow LED blinks when you press quickly 5x.
In the current visual "status message" puzzled always, the unit is now on or off and waits for the eventual flashes of the blue LED. Not optimal, but no big deal.
Then I was looking for the tablet according to the new wireless access point of SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive and - there was once nothing! Very strange. Maybe too far away. So fetched closer and behold, there is an access point "SanDisk Flash XYZ" appears. Since we have my thoughts, which I expressed at the outset. Metal housing and Wi-Fi, a nonsensical combination.
As it turned out the stick has a range of nearly 1 to 1.5 meters. This is for such a device, however, unacceptable! But may also be related to the fact that it is very small and thus can not provide the service, as well as massive "contaminate" nearby wireless router frequencies.
Anyway, it was now set on the tablet. Was quick and easy and I was blessed with a firmware update for the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive. Quickly and without difficulty was that of equip. Put the stick for a few minutes into the USB slot of the laptop and it was done.
Started again and what can I say, the SanDisk app on the tablet showed immediately after dialing into the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive-Fi on the contents of the sticks. Exemplary! Direct even a few pictures and music files shoveled onto the stick of tablet. Goes wonderfully. Perhaps it is by now of - in my case - spoiled USB 3.0, because it took some time already. Not unbearably long, but not very fast. It's just wired and intrinsically not a "rocket".
Then once tried the streaming function. Works! Without complaint and without stammering and stuttering. As long as one remains in the direct vicinity of the sticks.
Connect to up to eight devices at the same time to the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive. This is a very nice crowd! Eight people with terminals in radius from 1 - 1.5 meters. Well ...
So I thought, I'm Tying The SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick into the existing WLAN on. No sooner said than done and it was available for all devices, that they had their Internet connection without caps in home WLAN. Very fine. However, in my Fritz box had 6360 UM Unitymedia the stick are almost on the router to maintain a stable and durable connection. Not nice, but if you know it, you can be prepared. The stick does now always with us home his service.

Conclusion SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive:
The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is a concept with a lot of potential. However, it must have some points to be revised urgently. As would be covered by WLAN (example application: Providing documents during a lecture at the university), on / off operation, charging problems with connections that are not USB 2.0.
Then would be the SanDisk Wireless Flash Drive a still "rounder" package that would also be more user-friendly.
