For the die-hard fans of Captain the album was probably a shock. Threatened but the resolution in any decades every band that came into the starting blocks with great originality. From the mainstream it is however still miles away. And the addition of Mirror Man Tracks relativized the album, too. These show the background from which this music has developed. This is not without risk, because it could someone who found this album great as it is, a little scare: So this is the real captain? Yes, and you should know. These tracks add to the more cuddly album, probably done out of love for DVV, which one does honor when you look at his oeuvre.

Since 1982, he has not set foot in the stages. He will be 69 years old in January. His Magic Band is still active. He has devoted himself entirely to painting and drawing. His work is not anything without his paintings, his music is incomplete without the "Moonbeams". He left it in the follow-up album "Unconditionally Guaranteed" Although clearly visible that brought him commercial reasons to "hörbarere" bringing music to the market. But as a true artist, he joined the bull by the horns and offered it the best.
If you'd only know these two albums, then you know less than nothing about Captain Beefheart, whose atonal radicalism in the end sixties and "Trout Mask Replica" (1969) or "Strictly Personal" (1968) marks the other Extrempol. Between these it is moving.

However: If this album is approved after extreme mental states, for ecstasy, depression, hangover or all at the same time, it is a balm. To me it was (35 years ago) the message: "He came out as you come out of there.." And so it was.

Unfortunately, Amazon is a year to the year of the remix. That's very unfortunate. Especially when this artist it pays to embed the albums in the zeitgeist and to see how, conversely, the musical environment of Captain Beefheart was coined.
