We can indeed see a new generation passport within the pictures. Now I have a passport older generation that does exactly the same size as the new (length: 12.6 cm) and it is too big to fit. It is indicated in the description 12.3 cm maximum and I confirm, we can not put more than 1 mm. The picture may not contractual but then it induces the buyer error. Without this photo I would have never bought that bag and I'd relied only the description which suggested that the passport is slightly too big. I managed in the end to put in my record but battling it comes to farm without applying excessive stress on the seams.
Note: it appears that contrary to information found on the net the My Passport old and new generation, their dimensions are not identical and therefore the new generation very well. So the first point made above is probably incorect.
2nd point: the interior material with shape memory is a bad choice.
This is a synthetic material under the fabric. It is hard but if you exercise enough pressure, it sinks, never to return to its original position. The interior and mold to the shape of the hard drive.
- 1st observation: a hard drive may not exert pressure cm2 strong enough that the material sinks and takes the form of the disc.
- 2nd observation: even if the inner cover came anyway to take the shape of the disk it will certainly be well cushioned on impact but nothing will cushion the shock wave. Since there is indeed a hard disk under the material and not a foam "flexible" able to withstand and gradually absorb the shock.
- 3rd observation: this material is used as mesh side where you put the usb cable. When the cover is closed, the cable is found compressed and presses hard enough on the foam to deform it, so it takes the cable footprint. Open the cover, use your disk and store it again, the cable will not be exactly the same position, so it will print its new position in the foam. Do this a few dozen times and the foam is pressed everywhere. Better not put foam in this case.
It's a shame, it could have been a nice cover otherwise.
