Bernard Ollivier (1938-) is a French journalist and writer. Founder of the association Threshold (reintegration troubled youth by walking), author of the famous trilogy "Long March" (which federated over 300 000 readers), he laced his boots again in the footsteps of pilgrims on the Way Dukes of Normandy. On the trail of history and in departments that knows well having lived there, Bernard Ollivier shares his immoderate love for the lonely trek, intimate, listening to nature, in the footsteps of pilgrims yesteryear. Who, more than a walker, can fully appreciate the splendor of the Seine Valley, the Pays d'Auge, the Normandy Switzerland and virois Bocage? Rouen Mont-Saint-Michel, History and Geography open our arms.
The writer traveler had to try several times to rally the various stages. As he admits, professional and private demands forced him to interrupt his journey back to it a few months later. This short book, well documented, however, left me on my hunger. It lacks the "flame" of the "Long March." Certainly, the Mont-Saint-Michel is less exotic than the steppes of Central Asia, but we feel it is not 200% invested in this quest. The reading remains very pleasant and makes you want to try the adventure.
