I want here as a review Would no photographic basic course and also do not quote the datasheet this camera in more or less modified form. I just want to simply describe the features that make the 10 RX for me so valuable:
The feel: I have rarely had a camera in his hand, which is ideal from the beginning in my hands. Perfect, also easy to hold in one hand, the second hand on the tube, to adjust the aperture or the zoom, or simply for safe support.
The eye usually the high-resolution electronic viewfinder, where you can read the recording parameter accurately, as well as their effect on the image to be exposed.
All necessary buttons and wheels are ideal for access to the right thumb so that you can let the eye quite comfortably on the viewfinder while you readjusts the parameters. The thumb has a sufficiently large resting and holding zone in which no button is which one happens to be "operated" without wanting.
The Fn key has immediate access to a quick menu, which you can configure according to your own preferences. Thus one has totally uncomplicated and rapidly changed during the recording that setting if you want to take even without the eye from the viewfinder (You can see that even here the changing parameters).
On the three vacancies on the direction pad I put AF, Focus Field, HDR / ODR - operation arises truly intuitive. Toll!
The default key for the ISO setting on the top of the camera I left so it is ideal for me. Flight I set fast times from AUTO to AUTO multiframe to (at low light conditions, etc.) and back (by the way: Of course AUTO also offers the possibility of ISO-limit up and down (as a top value I use on 1600 and times ISO 3200, still gives flawless shots)).
Should you nevertheless times to get into the actual menu, so please, left hand button on the top left on the display. It immediately landed the last visited menu item and the entire structure is clear and totally uncomplicated.
I have to say it again: I have seldom a camera (especially of this quality) experienced whose controls are arranged ergonomically ideal. All buttons and wheels, and the wheel to exposure compensation, are easy to reach with your right thumb and to use, and, as I said, without taking your eye away from the viewfinder (if you want it). Also, the program shift wheel (for coordination between aperture and value) is one of them.
Photographers who come from the "previous" analogue SLR division are unsure befriend this handy power pack, which is actually a "Bridge", quickly. Ever since the RX 10 the total SLR feeling of earlier times has, and with a lens that is found in today's DSLRs only in the luxury class, huge - and - riesenteuter.
I'm just excited to play with this intensity of 2.8 consistently through all focal lengths to achieve a variety of effects with excellent picture quality even in low light conditions.
Another highlight this: I can dispense with the troublesome become long lens exchange. The lens is permanently installed, so no dust on the sensor, no expensive sensor maintenance more!
The optical zoom 24-200 mm's enough for most subjects from anyway, and even if I use the "Clear-Zoom" use (= lighter digital zoom that extends the focal length of about 16-fold, to 400 mm), it is for the normal use, to be noted in this resolution of the RX 10, actually no loss of image quality.
For image quality very much positive in many other reviews and test been said, I can only confirm all this: my image results let me again just thrilled with your tongue ---!
HDR images, with all kinds of specifications parameters quickly from the Fn menu set (or even faster, as in my case, from an area occupied by my rocker position) show a surprisingly good effect.
The flash, which really only flash when you look at it pops up aware of is finely adjusted and lit from effectively than I suspected it. And the best part: The photographs show "flashed over" areas before to dark background. Voting Automatic working with this camera as good as I have experienced it at even no other.
However, you should remove the lens hood when flashing to possibly avoid a small lower shadow.
Otherwise: Whenever possible, keep lens hood on the lens! In many, many situations can flare deteriorate the recordings, because an old photographer wisdom holds: "Where is the necessary light for photography, is also scattered light!"
I myself have the lens of my RX 10 with a UV filter provided (also for lens protection) and with the appropriate lens shade. This is even again a protection for filters and lens. So I push my RX 10 even without the lens cap, but with attached lens hood, quickly and easily in my well-padded and very compact camera bag. When taking out with his right hand the camera is already turned on and ready for use. And always with the single, correct (permanently installed anyway) lens! Toll!
Even something fine: The screening of the aperture ring can be switched on and off by means of a slide switch on the bottom of the tube, depending on your preference, great!
Incidentally, I do not always look so through the viewfinder. And then also excited me the high quality display. With him is a great place to take pictures at the top or close to the ground well, it can be pivoted up and down. Critics complain that it was not so supported. But I think it's ideal if you can hold the camera firmly with both hands even when tilted display yet. When using a rotatable outward folding screen (such as the Panasonic FZ1000), so you have to tilt the screen, really show this. As a result, you hold the camera with your left hand relatively fragile (and conspicuous) at the far unfolded display. But, as I said, this is my own priority!
Speaking Panasonic FZ1000: Of course, I also had 10 pulled this camera before acquiring my Sony RX shortlisted. There are currently mE only these two bridge cameras, which can offer higher quality DSLRs a more compact Paroli. Why then fell my choice on the RX 10? The decisive factors were personal feelings: I felt the RX 10 quality processes and better (clearer) to operate. In addition, she is more compact than the FZ1000. The photo quality of the RX 10 is partially superior mE of the FZ1000. The FZ1000 is said even "faster", but, honestly, the speed of the RX 10 is my needs far no limits.
Battery: The battery remaining time appears quite accurately, on the battery life there is in my view nothing to complain about. Of course I have, since I am on long-distance travel often on the road, even three to four spare batteries here, including two battery chargers, quite inexpensive and qualitatively equivalent to purchase anything on the foreign brands sector (particularly here at Amazon).
Price: This is just over 800 Euros completely justified at present (April 2015). A DSLR equipment, with the same picture and control quality is much more extensive and more expensive.
Nota bene: I had G1X Mark II also encompasses the Canon PowerShot eye before the acquisition of the RX 10. But: Current price just over 600 euros, electronic viewfinder in addition 300 Euro. Replacement batteries: There is no low-cost third-party product for this Canon battery. So you have to bow to the dictates of Canon and buy two or three of these outrageously about 70 euro expensive Canon batteries. Thus it is with more than 1,100 euros, well above the purchase price of a RX10-equipment and has only an approximately equivalent image quality, but with significant drawbacks in the focal length and the macros. And - with the plugged viewfinder, this camera is also not really more compact.
Finally, I want to emphasize: I am not a Markenfetischist and no service goers from Sony. I currently own and excellent cameras of Panasonic and Nikon companies (among others), also, and especially in the compact camera sector, the I ("unobtrusively and always") like to use depending on the purpose.
But the Sony RX10 is currently for me, an "old hands", who for many decades with many, many simple as well as extremely high quality has (and expensive) cameras handled, a real treat, what the feeling of the original photographing (in German : light-drawing) accounts.
Therefore: Reviewers should never presume to write universally valid. Each reviewer, so I also, only emphasized his own, very subjective opinion. And if potential buyers my review be helpful, a good thing. I benefit indeed reversed by the other reviews!
PS: For the video feature (I almost forgot):
Decades ago already filmed (and I cut - even later with sound) in 8mm and 16mm range. Of course, I took also thrilled the transition to video recording and video editing. The necessary equipment was often voluminous. Today reaches a "small" RX10 in order to be viewed on a high definition TV set quasi professionally recorded, cut and set to music videos.
The excellent video qualities of these RX10 I want to list at this point not even, they can be taken from the corresponding data sheet of the camera.
But one thing I can already notice: The RX10 will banish my still quite young (and at that time also quite expensive) video camera more and more in the domestic cabinet, especially since one "can take pictures very good" obviously also with the RX10 (see above) ;-)
