Jonas Kaufmann-another very promising tenor. He almost met my expectations on this CD. Interpretative he is mentioned without a doubt Rolando Villazón just behind, is probably next to this also the top tenors of our time. Also vocally he can be very convincing, but me his voice is just a bit too dark. He almost sounds more like a baritone and sings accordingly very often with very strong chest voice, which then sounds just too heavy and too tight. In height he sometimes can not convince all therefore because he there his voice very diluted (unlike Villazón, who still can show a certain fullness in the high priority). Highly commendable is that he does not press his voice in spite of everything, as do so many well-known contemporary tenors (last unfortunately Villazón). This distinguishes him so for me in front of all the others, since it is even a real, intelligent, musical tenor finally, the but is a pleasant alternative to Rolando Villazón. He really impressed me, particularly in my highlight, the aria of Max from the Freischütz "The forests, the meadows". Undoubtedly Kaufmann is a master at "German specialist". Something I was disappointed, therefore, that not at least one Mozart aria is included on the CD, because precisely these roles are praised him so. Well, it is one then probably in due course need to buy the Mozart CD. The CD is a good cross-section of the different types of opera, Puccini and Massenet on Flotow to Verdi is much represented. What has me however very disappointed: The Booklet. For quite normalpreisliche CD booklet seems to really cheap. The paper quality is abysmal, although the text says something about the career of Jonas Kaufmann, but unfortunately not to the incarnated here rolls ... After all, you get a really interesting insight into the character of the merchant, which promises a very sympathetic, intelligent singer.
All in all: Definitely worth it, but do not be afraid of the dark timbre of the voice and engage in it ...
