The Denon DHT-T100 uses both low- and mid / tweeter and thus produces a dynamic and pleasant sound.
In particular, language and dialogues are very well understood and clearly reproduced.
At the same time the bass / bass driver produces a pleasant timbre. As a result, there is a room-filling sound.
The bass is due to the design (the box is compact and not very volumiös) not so dominant, but for TV and film entirely appropriate and sufficient.
Overall, the sound is unexcited, very balanced and solid - but no WOW! Effect.
Music sounds clear and precise medium and high range - here but could not hurt a little more bass. This as an indication, who wants to use the box as a universal sound station.
The same is probably true for "bombastic" action movies - if you would like to be shaken on the sofa, should consider alternatives.
For normal TV operation, however, the Denon is ideal. It is also emphasized that the sound base is fairly easy with 608 x 71 x 355 mm (WHD) and compact with ~4 kg.
In addition to the Denon, I have heard more sample devices. Very disappointed I was by the Bose Solo TV - which is considerably more expensive than the Denon and the sound of a step under it.
Great, however, was the Onkyo LS T10. Great sound, more bass than the Denon but much larger and more expensive.
Conclusion: If solid, clear TV sound would in one compact unit and medium price category is the Denon well served!

A few words about the connection:
The connection is optimally TOSLINK. I have joined the Denon to a Samsung TV, which in turn is fed via HDMI from a satellite receiver (Solo2).
The TV is the HDMI audio signal only by PCM (stereo Bitstream) further so that any multichannel audio (Dolby Digital / AC3) is down mixed. However, this has the advantage that the volume level of the input signal is transferred. The Denon can therefore be at maximum volume and the volume is controlled by the satellite receiver.
If the Dolby Digital signal is sent directly to the Denon (either by connecting satellite receiver -> Denon or if the TV tuner is used), this also decode the signal and play.
Then the volume on Denon has to be controlled. The difference between Dolby Digital Supply for stereo downmix in the receiver or TV is negligible after my previous tests.
The connection via Bluetooth (iPhone) to play music, incidentally, works without any problems!
