THE book to read on positive education, out of conflicts and punishments

Until then the world of books on sensitive education was very limited. There are some books in French more theoretical than practical, more to develop ideas that really apply. Across the Atlantic pragmatic vision of education gives access to a vast literature on this subject. I really found it a pity we do not have access in French, but it's done with this book.

As a teacher and mother, I really enjoyed this book. For some years now I use many positive educational techniques successfully with my son and then spray with my students. This book is ideal for both.

There are just the necessary theories and enter quickly in the implementation: understand the situation, adapt its response while respecting the physical and moral integrity of the child. That's how we get the best results, not injuring or humiliating that despite being the educational standard in our country.

The book is written in target practice. Each chapter is concluded with a record that summarizes the main elements. The tools are often presented in tabular form. They do not require tray + 10 for implementation. The author clearly explains the distinction between the two usual pitfalls are authoritarianism on the one hand and on the other hand laxity. The examples are numerous enough to clear up the proposed methods.
It also shows how to empower the child, learn to let go as a parent (or teacher) instead of instead of ... You learn the difference between compliments (which make dependent) and incentives that push to go forward. Techniques such as the time to exchange family (which can not be improvised).

For teachers, the tools are fully transferable with a little creativity and many tracks are data with their own tools. This is a technical discipline I already use with great success for years. Here we find everything in one book, read it a few years ago would have saved me to swallow dozens of books to build my own recipe. Not one hour paste institutional ZEP / ZUS while gaining calm and authority, the persons concerned will understand;) ...

For those that could worry the American style, the translation is very well done and very well implemented in our culture. We do not feel the oral style typeset often very difficult to bear for a French player (in an author like Jim Fay example). The set is simple, effective, clear and direct.

Small additional point: despite the price difference, I recommend the paper version rather than the digital version because the latter is not easily searchable based on need. Beyond reading, this book is a tool to be flipping through easily and quickly. It is worth the investment.

I highly recommend this reading to all parents who want to do better.
