I've actually only reason why gained me the device to record movies. See I do the films then the Raspberry Pi. I use the Xoro not really to watch television. Thus, I can image problems as they have been described in some reviews, do not say anything.
The unit has been running for a week and crashes but I had not until now.
The device makes a visually well-made impression.
The cable is a bit short. An electrical outlet should be close, otherwise you have to buy an extension cord.
The initial setup is super dissolved and self-explanatory. I opted for a (in the unit) pre-stored channel list. This completes the setup was completed in record time!
And the transmitter settings are ok for me.
That sort the services I have not tried. So cant comment on how well this works.
The image quality / sound quality is top.
However, I expect the same, since everything is purely digital.
Then the recording attempt. The Timer programming via EPG works very simply.
However, he accepts as a recording time simply given airtime. This is not practical! Here I would have expected that the inclusion of 1-2 minutes before running off and a few minutes later stops. How often broadcasts shift by a few minutes. And I find nothing more annoying not mitzubekommen the end of a movie, because the recording of the famous Minute stopped too early. But is not the end, you can start and end times so manually edit.
Storage media and its pitfalls ....
For the record I bought an outrageously expensive USB 3.0 flash drive. I thought the faster the data rate, the better. The first (short) test recording has then also works smoothly.
Then the first real movie recording and disillusionment. When reproducing increased picture and sound every few minutes for a brief moment. No movie enjoyment! At first I thought that the Raspberry with the recorded files has problems. But no matter where I've been trying to see the video, all the same problem.
(Which has obviously not worked) have experimented on Xoro, also a firmware update made, all to no avail.
Wanted to return the Xoro already because I've done the last attempt with an old external hard drive. Lo and behold, it worked! Then I wanted to know. Tried several USB sticks. Some work, some had problems.
But what has always worked, were external hard drives. I am not an expert. But I believe that the Xoro can not write decently constant data. And right disks have an internal cache memory, which probably eliminates the problem.
So now everything is perfect for me. Images have the expected good quality, the films can be watch on Raspberry and even edit if required on the PC.
And for this price.
So strong buy recommendation. The recording medium should first test before you order in the "large-scale operation" goes.
