Top content, but the presentation is weakening

Since the last training for Final Cut Pro X 10.0 greatly lot has happened. Apple has not been stingy with updates and new features, so that a new edition with the content for new media bar structure, multicam editing and many other new features was almost overdue. The updated training to FCP X 10.1.4 is a complete new production, which does not simply describe only the new features. The old training is thus completely replaced. Too bad that Apple has already launched another update to version 10.2 out. The innovations are of course then not be found in this pub - but these are limited. The biggest change: tag collections can exist not only in projects, but now also in events and media libraries.

Even the coach is new. Instead Robin Short, who still accompanied the training for version 10.0 and now apparently marketed itself, this leads times Gabriel Pielke through the lessons.
And here we are already at my (single) main criticism, which unfortunately affects the entire training: the presentation of the trainer.
There is nothing to complain about, however, that training will be carried forward scripted. Errors are eliminated earlier, the choice of words, etc. can be reconsidered before recording etc.
The contents of carry forward but monotonous and virtually no emphasis, or read is long-winded for the viewer and makes it unnecessarily difficult to follow the material interesting. Mr. Pielke is technically in its competence not to doubt, but the male voice of my iPhones or from the Mac has more emphasis and momentum in his voice when he. I have tried it. ;-) Extreme example the chapter 1.08, where it comes to the training material.
The introduction videos for each chapter reads Mr. Pielke clearly visible from, recognizable by the eye movements. Even that's not really a problem if a little more enthusiasm would recognize. If you want to convince yourself, drop by the Rheinwerk publishing and there the demo tutorials on.

Okay, that was the Grump part review. Now for the positive side. Content training provides everything I hoped for. A very detailed introduction to the handling of the program and various cutting techniques. There are plenty of informed hints, tips and shortcuts. Here the tip of my hand, to create the same one "cheating list" of the most important key commands. I have taken many with a label maker for the same keys of my keyboard ready. This speeds up the interface and further work properly.
The sample project can be shown with durgehend edited thanks to the supplied training material. It is a small promotional video for a personal trainer. Mir has indeed better like the example material from the old course, its purpose this one as well. You can learn the full use of FCP X know well, import, editing, effects, keyframes, video and audio enhancement, as well as the output. And the plug-ins Compressor and Motion are at least basically explains. Especially for motion could certainly offer another course.

Remains a solid 4. Even if the coach monotonous and not very exciting for my taste comes over, the training provides all relevant, what you have to learn to work with FCP X. It is then much safer in dealing with this tool. For each entry in any case worth buying.
