(FYI: I already had the Fuji S8100 and still own the Fuji S4080 / S4000)
The advantages here:
+ Tiltable display
+ Eye sensor automatically switches on request when approaching the viewfinder
+ Diopter compensation
+ Hot Shoe
+ Li-Ion battery (finally ..)
+ Manual zoom
+ Manual focus (very fiddly but halfway usable)
+ 58mm filter thread (finally ..)
+ Lens Hood (finally ...)
+ EXR Mode Low Noise 8MP photos
+ RAW (RAF Fuji format import program on CD)
+ The gigantic zoom range and the extreme macro function
+ The camera remembers in all positions the most important settings
+ The panoramic mode
+ Remote Shutter to USB anschlissbar
+ Standard USB connection from the connector format now fit nearly all my cables
+ High-speed videos in low resolution as an interesting gimmick (up to 320 fps)
That which made me not so convinced:
- Zooming is in video mode not beautiful, but there is support for rotary zoom zoom lenses (see also for DSLRs)
- The minimal distortion, it is fair to say that the zoom range is 24-720mm EXTREME
- For difficult colors (leaves and flowers in the sunlight) sometimes not optimal in the near focal length (color smearing)
- It is sometimes very difficult to judge which mode is now the best, without manual should not go straight on
Conclusion short, compared to other bridge cameras
Significant improvements in usability: Battery, finally no longer individual batteries etc.
The picture quality compared to the S4080 is significantly better. Many intervention options (color sharpness tint, etc., etc.) make various focus modes AF and or exposure lock, additional keys and the dial 2 for settling the work more effective. There are special features that are very good with a tripod, but again, you have to read and try. The RAW format is not to be despised, and I had missed in the S4080.
I am very satisfied, except for the video mode. If you use the video mode on tripod and no zooming around it is very good, otherwise the image flickering when moving and zooming, as with DSLRs now just not as easy. But for me that is not a criticism, because I shoot videos with a Sony HDR CX130 general, I do not need that.
Why only 4 stars?
Because you can not always entirely clear from the exquisite manual extent to which manual intervention effect in the photo. Because the video stabilization makes sense only with tripod and fixed focus, thereby freehand videos look amateurish. Because the manual focus is not a real focus ring, but only a sort of remote control of the internal focusing. Especially the manual focus is not always optimal to dose, the rotary ring revolve and the setting screen on the display is very banal and useful only on the tripod when zooming. Honestly just has prepared for the greatest one disappointment me the manual focus.
One more thing: Whoever thinks that the camera comes close to a DSLR, will be disappointed. Anyone looking for a panacea for little money and bridge cameras like coming quickly along well. (I refer this to the Aperture and focusing)
Personally, I see in the HS30EXR with the 30x zoom (up to 60x smart) a great advancement over the S-series which I often focussing errors noticed only with the S4080 home. Here is clearly a step up for a little money. There are also a lot of manual intervention and the setting is comfortable by adding buttons to the left and the dial on the upper right.
The semi-professional will not be DSLR and bridge here pleased: This is no comparison !!! Although the pictures are often very good, but a DSLR is a bridge camera so never replaced. The user should know clearly what is a bridge camera.
A great gimmick are still the various high-speed video modes with 80-320 fps, as YouTuber I already see as a few ideas germinate in me :)
Finally, the advantages of the bridge camera friend who wants to improve (like me) will be satisfied if he has practiced the settings. I personally like the camera is very good and my Inexpensive solution for a variety of design. For a price of 220, - Euro in the Amazon Warehouse deal (used - very good) I am more than satisfied. The "used" camera was almost new.
