The album opens with the song "Elvenpath". This song is a very good intro with a lot of momentum and a great text. It continues with "Beauty and the Beast" in which it comes to the debate between the Beauty and the Beast. The song would be perfect for me if it were not for the vocals of keyboardist Tuomas. Tarja's vocals, however, is really great. After relatively short vocal of the two, it continues with a nice guitar solo and great keyboard parts. One of my favorite songs on this album. Next, the song "The Carpenter" comes. This song is rather quiet and sounds sad. However, I find him not really succeeded. The sad thing is boring and also here we find again Tuomas voice, which of course no whit better sounds than before. Then comes "Astral Romance". A again slightly faster than the previous song. This song would certainly be great if it were not for the vocals of keyboardist again. While his voice still sounds reasonably well in "Beauty and the Beast", she hears here just terrible at. Apart from that it's a great song with a beautiful and some easier, end, in which the guitarist and the keyboard to win us over. Tuomas focus should be only on his keyboard playing. "Angels Fall First" is the name of the next title, after the album was named. Unlike the previous songs, this song completely focused on Tarja's voice, which is full of emotions and is beautiful. It's a very soulful slow song with an acoustic guitar instead of an electric guitar. Again, there is again a very nice outro. It continues with "Tutankhamen". A very oriental flavored song. I like the song for some reason not as good. More I can not say too. We come to the next song: "Nymphomaniac Fantasia" This song is the melody of her just super. In particular, the keyboard parts stand out. The song, however, do not like it so much. In almost every line is sung canon, which is simply unnecessary and superfluous there in my opinion. Finally, comes a wonderful flute solo. Now comes my favorite song on the album. "Know Why The Nightingale Sings" It's finally a rockigeres song. Tarja sings class, the text is super and it ends with an aesthetic guitar and keyboard solo. The next song "Lappi (Lapland)" is made up of 4 parts. The first is "Erämaajärvi". Tarja sings once finnish and also the sounds really nice. Then comes the second part, the Instumentalstück "Witch Drums". You can hear here, as you can imagine, especially accompanied by a magical melody Jukkas drums (I just have not found a better word). "This Moment Is Eternity", the name of the third part is again provided with the English text. Like the two previous parts is also kept this quiet and Tarja sings beautifully again. The last part of Lappi is "Etiäinen". It is an instrumental piece, which, however, can not really be distinguished from the other. Total Lappi (Lapland) sounds nice, but the songs to hear my opinion at all very similar. The last thing I rate nor the bonus song "Retun to the Sea". Beautiful melodies, accompanied by Tarja's great vocals. Nevertheless, this song is not really succeeded. It sounds rather boring to, similar to "The Carpenter".
Overall a very nice album, in which the male singing voice is the greatest weakness. But the melodies are very well done and Tarja shows how well she can sing. When Nightwish fan you should have the album anyway.
