So we decided recently, another model - the LG 6260 - to test. After we were not entirely satisfied with the, now, a third came to the starting line - Vorwerk VR100.
Here the pros and cons of our tested models - Roomba 780, LG VR 6260, Vorwerk VR100 - compared:
Noise level: Roomba mediocre, LG much quieter, Vorwerk rather loud.
The hitless Navigate: mediocre at Roomba. Sometimes he pops right firmly against furniture. LG and Vorwerk are much better here.
Obstacle overcoming: mediocre at Roomba, LG cut here pretty bad. Vorwerk also medium to very good (depending on Hindernisart).
Sucking: when Roomba erratic, ie he assumes that in a given time should have reached pretty much every part of the room. Statistically, that's true, at least counted on several Sauggänge.
LG and Vorwerk are much more effective, and drive space from systematically. LG has even for 2 different (but about the same depth) modes. Accordingly you can admire the thoroughness with "is so" (Roomba), and Very Good (LG, Vorwerk) specify.
Exclusion of areas: important if one does not want to suck certain areas, for example, because there are not removable obstacles. When Roomba using "Virtual Walls" possible at Vorwerk with magnetic stripe. When LG impossible.
Dust container: When Roomba side, and thus rather impractical. When emptying falls more often ever again dust out. When LG and Vorwerk the container from above and are to be taken "crap-free".
Roomba and LG have a remote assistant, Vorwerk not (but this is negligible weight, because you can go at times rather the vacuum cleaner anyway, in which one is not at home).
In the suction I could not tell the difference; probably the VR100 but slightly stronger.
All three have side brushes, the difference (Roomba: 1 medium long brush, LG: 2 long brushes, Vorwerk: 1 short brush) seems to make no difference in the thoroughness. On the contrary, but the short brush Vorwerk seems rare in cables or similar tangling.
All three have the ability to perform a firmware update.
Visual and audible probably make the LG and Roomba "more ago" as the Vorwerk (although our cats find again the Vorwerk exciting).
Ultimately, we decided for the Vorwerk VR100 - see also my review for LG 6260th
The Roomba 780 is overall not a bad vacuum cleaner robot, but now technically obsolete. Who many obstacles in the room has (tables, chairs etc.) should perhaps consider investing the extra cost for the VR100.
