I have now two TP-Link TL-WN822N. Both function as a wireless client on current Linux kernels (from 3.6 tested incl. Raspberry Pi). There are at least two different versions with different wireless chips. The version is printed on the back of the unit.

Version 2: This version has a Atheros chip (driver ath9k_htc) installed and works fine as an access point with hostapd.

Version 3: Has a Realtek chip (driver rtl8192cu) installed and will also function as an access point. For me it has not been working.

Since both devices without difficulty do as WLAN client service I forgive her 5 stars. Simply plug in and get started. Anyone wishing to use the Access Point mode, probably has to get lucky and have an old version grab 2 model.
