Also with regard to other animals, especially dogs and cats, I have concerns with such snap traps. The bait smells not only enticing for mice. How fast is because sometimes the dog's nose or the cat's paw on or in the case?
I also find that the size of most cases is quite low. Since I can not control every hour the case, a little freedom of movement for potential prisoners is certainly not wrong.
For these reasons I have decided to use this event.
I have the case stocked with chocolate (dark chocolate mint wafers) and placed on a wall in the garage. The next morning I checked the case, what really should not be a problem through the viewing window. First, I have the mouse but not seen and would be out marching almost back without the trap out of the garage. The pipsqueak had holed up in one of the input namely tunnel !!!
After a short walk towards the forest, between fields and far enough away from the first houses I have the cover then opened. Since the mouse has made no move moving out, I made the case for a short time carefully aside.
It may also be that this first success was a coincidence. But I am confident and happy about this simple and pet-friendly event.
