Outer Appearance
The DVD box like it in principle quite well. It occurs in a 3D presentation in appearance and is quite nice therefore be considered. I personally like the Steel box of the first part better, but that's only a matter of taste.
Installation
The installation went very quickly out of hand. DVD inserted, installed game, Windows Live installed and that's about it. Since I already had a Windows Live account, all this was not a problem. The question of whether the game should be associated with my account, was answered with 'yes' and you could start the fun. To what extent there are more circumstances, if you still have an account, I can not judge. But I believe that I have at that time pretty excited at GTAIV. So be it: In this bullet has to bite you if you want to enjoy Bioshock2.
Trailer
The trailer is almost over usual casual. It has now the old Bioshock feeling and want as quickly as possible plunge into the world of Rapture. Of course, you will once dismissed completely unenlightened from the trailer and seeks to explore the reasons for what they have seen. A thoroughly successful launch in the second part!
Graphic
The graphic changes are not as marginal, as described here by some users. Although remains of very great 'wow factor', but that no one expected from Bioshock2 seriously. Rather, love is in the details, which is why even the first part was so great! In the new Bioshock there eg. A shadow of Big Daddy, traces of water behind the alter ego and visually upgraded plasmids. The whole world fits quite simply together 'and that makes the atmosphere almost perfect! Personally, I am not looking for a week after a game that represents the graphic reference. Rather, I value authenticity 'I would like to empathize with me and can understand the atmosphere. This will be implemented principally by two Bioshock parts' especially since the graphics are not bad or even '' is stale, as judged by some users.
Performance
Despite the many improvements I can play the game on my 2 year old computer with the highest level of detail. My system: Core2Duo E6600 @ 3GHz, 4GB RAM 800Hz, Nvidia 8800GTX, Vista 32bit. In 1680 resolution my system reaches its limits (from VSync, DirectX 10). This changes as soon as I play in 1280 resolution. Here the game is running almost perfectly and smoothly to 95%. And when I say liquid, I mean liquid. Not the 'In Crysis need only 20Frames' liquid. 95%, because you already have from time to time feel in trailers (flooding in the city), the game would twitch shortly. But this is very subjective, as I am personally quite critical. My friend has confirmed to me to have found nothing at all. I'm a perfectionist;) The playable under water section, which I had defined in the pre-video as a graphic-eater, then ran again absolutely smoothly, so I'm definitely happy with the performance.
Level Design
Who Bioshock knows, who knows that it is severely limited in its freedom of movement. Large areas are nowhere, but quite naturally accompanied by the sub-water scenario. So one usually travels through tubing level and an accurate way to achieve its objectives. And yet it create the developers to encourage them to search and browse or partially so as to create large spaces that you can get lost quite. In rooms, which need not necessarily be committed, one also finds useful ammunition, Adam or first aid kits. That one is under water, so for example, is expressed particularly well.. Many narrow aisles are equipped by windows through which one always looks in the bustling Ocean.
My little highlight so far: The park of Andrew Ryan! Structured like a 'theme park' on the surface you can learn by button Press the ideology of Prime Creator. The 'starry sky' on the ceiling can actually forgot appear that one is underwater. In addition, the individual 'stations' built so funny that I could not get enough of me. A really excellent idea!
Opponents / combat system
Compared with the first part encountered with Bioshock2 on a wider variety of opponents. In addition, the struggles against (the known) Big Daddys and Big Sisters difficult to survive in Rapture. They challenge the player considerably more than in the first part and thus lead to more exciting fights.
To get to the Little Sister Adam, you must also be set on fighting, which can be previously 'planned'. So the use of mines is relevant or the exact exploring the premises. Even the parallel use of primary weapon and plasmids carrying here for fun with 'a welcome change for the first part.
Sound
The sound carries in my opinion quite decisively to great mood. Both the arms and the interacting opponent ensure authenticity. The heavy steps of the Big Daddys I like this especially.
Copy protection
The game itself can probably be installed only 15 times, which is criticized by many users (rightly) because it (obviously) constitutes a restriction. This contrasts with the fact that it has this also been at Bioshock1 and was lifted by the manufacturer after some time. Why should this not also be in the second part of the case? If this is not so, then you have to question whether you will install a game more than 15 times. We compare the story with a new car purchase. Suppose you drive a car 'when it comes up' 250.000km. The seller, however, has given a guarantee of 'only' 500.000km. Why get upset? The car you drive anyway no 500.000km! For me, these statements are so splitting hairs, but let everyone decide for themselves. I install a game, play it and uninstall it again. If I still wanted to play 3 times, and it would therefore install again and again, would be 4 out of 15 away installations. If you have still 11 installations 'should go if something goes wrong', or if I wanted to install it 11 times in 20 years. Before that, I reckon, however, with a patch or Bioshock 3: D
Conclusion
Unfortunately, the 'wow factor' of the first part can not be achieved, since one already knows much easy. The numerous improvements, such as. The Kapfsystem or the new enemy, the game, however, enrich the sense that the purchase of the new part is definitely worthwhile. Variety is guaranteed and the atmosphere can also 1: 1 match with the old part. The performance is great and error within the game you're looking for anyway vain.
If there are still questions, simply use the comment function. I reserve the right to change. To date, however, there's a very strong buy recommendation.
