I had enjoyed the previous title, Tokyo Sanpo. Here, the atmosphere is radically different. Of the megalopolis, we go to a small island where everyone knows each other and where the village comes down a few blocks to old houses and a bar where drunks corner have their "membership card". Tourists are rare, but there are a lot of fish and insects to observe. The drawings Florent Chavouet are splendid, colorful, bright (ah, those strange perspectives!) And above, details are tasty, full of humor and finesse (incredible detail!). The characters are earthy and seem more real they should be. Very alive, very authentic smell the. It is a rural Japan, populated by real island, Japan a more "exotic", which is not known by a Japan that has kept strong traditions and do not attach themselves to cliches.
Only regret, the giant map, we should try to detach itself from the binding of the book by cutting the paper along a line ... not easy damage and that we should "spoil" the binding to achieve it! (But the map is as beautiful as the rest, with amazing and full of prospects as anecdotal details are fun).
