+++ Image quality
The image quality is as mentioned in other posts, excellent. Absolutely sharp image 'writings are clearly shown as to an office PC. Even DVD contents are displayed visibly sharper than a DVD player.
+++ Sound quality Movie
Subjectively, better than the movies ;-) Star Wars sounds overwhelming ...
++ Sound quality Audio
After some experimentation with the audio settings and stereo sound (for example) CD comes across quite well.
+++ Wireless connection to Fritz! Box
The connection to a Fritz! Box 7270 was carried out simply and easily.
+++ Viera Connect via Wi-Fi
Movies are perfectly reproduced without interruptions and juddering.
+++ Viera Connect service
The initialization of the sides seems a bit slow, but the service is consistent and easy.
- Viera Connect libraries
Contrary to the ARTE library provide the media libraries of ARD and ZDF, a pitifully narrow range, which is mainly limited to news broadcasts. It is unclear whether Panasonic or ARD / ZDF, or both are responsible for the condition.
+++ Access to Fritz! Box Media Server
The connection is simple, operation simple. Unfortunately, there is not in the manual, or on any information FAQ, what video formats are playable. Other manufacturers document this much better.
++ RDS radio
Reception and service are tidy. The device display the RDS station name is displayed. Almost a bit embarrassing that this RDS information is not displayed onscreen.
- Spartan device display
Although there are only a few characters are available, in many cases, the display may be a little more talkative anyway. So only the current track time is displayed during CD playback; the track number is missing.
- Devices display only in English
Legibility is indeed with minimal knowledge of English not a problem; multilingualism should be but at a current device state of the art.
- Display visibility
At eye level, the display is very readable. Something seen from from above but the display is difficult to read because the upper casing edge hinders the view of the slightly recessed screen.
- Calibrate Speakers
The calibration of the speaker must be performed by hand, in contrast to other systems with Kalibriermikrophon. Rather than simply being able to enter the speaker distance from the listening position, a delay in milliseconds must be specified. The desired delay must be taken and entered from a table in this manual - more complicated it gets.
- No Ausschaltgedächtnis
The home theater system will always start from the home screen, and not where it was turned off in mode. I use the D-input In the home theater system to play the sound of the SAT receiver via the home theater system. After switching on the home theater system I have to additionally activate the 'iPod' button - with a Ausschaltgedächtnis this would be solved easier.
+ Remote
The remote control is a partly broken logical and easy to use, but also to find some blunders:
The Home button is just above the Up / Down, Right / Left selection Cross placed. Too often you press instead of the high-key the Home button and it must begin again with the navigation.
All button labels are located under the key. Some key labels (eg, the Surround button) located above and below the button itself. The confusion is especially perfect in the beginning, which can be seen even in some community contributions. The writer claimed that the Surround button 'do not work' would.
+ General Help
The operation can be reduced as described well done. The setup must be carried out to understand and simple. However, the sound settings are too dismembered. Too many entry points and menus to adjust the sound and audio properties. Ideal would be a key sound screen on which all settings would be clearly visible and adjustable.
Pleasant is that the volume can be adjusted very finely in 100 steps.
Normal shows the button 'option' more possibilities for instantaneous operation. In Viera Connect mode, pressing the Options button to the home screen takes you back 'annoying.
+ Play features Media Server / SD card / USB flash drive
The play features are limited in the media playback to a minimum (compared to a simple MP3 player).
- Too short cable for the rear speakers
Even in my case the cables were too short to Sublautsprechern. Even if this other manufacturers do no better, why not Panasonic. Shorten cable is much more pleasant than to extend.
+ Manual
The manual is considered good at first glance. In practice, however, it turns out, that's when describing the functions often not described well enough for what playback method is valid.
--- Description of playable video formats
The playable video formats (file extension and codec) is incomplete and poorly documented in the user manual (Samsung, LG and Pioneer I saw this clearly better documented). It is incomprehensible why each other video formats can be played from a USB stick and SD card. Which formats are playable in DLNA client is not specified. Here, a FAQ clarity.
+ CD playback
In playback screen a wide column for the title appears. Who hopes in CD-Text to see title, will be disappointed. Thus the player is but in bad company with most other players.
- Selection of music sound effects
In the selection menu 6 modes for Digital Tube Sound, and 3 modes for Remaster offered. If you do not know what you intend, you will discover no differences in the listening test, especially since this may be seen only in specific scenes.
In the operating instructions can be found at Remaster:
Remaster 1: Pop and rock
Remaster 2: Jazz
Remaster 3: Classical
In the selection menu but only Remaster 1 to 3 can be selected. If Remaster 1, 2, 3 have this meaning, why this can not be read in the Onscreenanzeige and choose accordingly?
There are no statements about the different digital tube sound modes; Here is an FAQ would be appropriate.
Conclusion:
Despite my many negative comments, I can wholeheartedly recommend the device nevertheless, provided the user can put up with the shortcomings mentioned. Many of the mentioned shortcomings can be addressed with a firmware update, or relieve with FAQs.
Known for Amazon exemplary sales processing and delivery has nothing to do with the quality of the product, but I would nevertheless like to commend.
