As "appetizer" for the newly released back catalog of Pink Floyd EMI now published a another "best of" compilation. One really has "one foot in the door" if you look at the track list of this album. But satisfactory, such a "retrospective" is not, at least not in a band like Pink Floyd. That a few years ago published double album "Echoes" was compressed quasi again and what is left upon expiration? The "big hits of Pink Floyd". Well, we were at Abba I could still understand, but were the "big Pink Floyd hits" not really only excerpts from the great Pink Floyd albums? What sense does it make to listen "Another brick in the wall", without knowing the musical background? One could say that the live tracks are also always shuffled, but I would not compare it to a studio CD a concert. Therefore, Pink Floyd is not suitable for such reduced "compilation albums". For me, all the Pink Floyd albums are self-contained works that should be heard in its original form. Hacked to this "song cycles" you inevitably pulls the songs from their environment and that makes no sense in my eyes. Such a "fragment-CD" is also in stark contrast to the "immersion boxes". On the one hand one should "fully" in some albums "dive", on the other hand "enjoys" one appetizers on a colorful "Petit Pink Floyd Feur plate ... If it is then supposed to be already a "compilation of snippets CD" at least the aforementioned double album "Echoes". But there is thrown together indiscriminately, which is actually against all logic ... Yes, there are actually only "known" songs from Pink Floyd to hear, yes, the season is neat and hence you get just a "colorful bag" of fragments ... But why bother? Therefore, is this "thing" actually nothing. Merely to fret, to have bought it. My tip: "Meddle" / "Dark Side of the Moon" / "Wish You Were Here" / "Animals" / "The Wall" and possibly even "The Division Bell" buy and really listen to Pink Floyd in their entirety, then it shows very fast, the singles are not the medium of this band and were ... Nevertheless 5 stars because it is a music review.
