The debut album The Hurting is one of these excellent albums which have now completely earned a cult following developed in the 80's New Wave / Pop scene. 30th anniversary of The Hurting Universal is releasing a deluxe edition of the album. In addition to the original album, there is a CD with B-sides and remixes. The whole thing comes in a stylish digipack with thick booklet that the genesis of the album a little illuminated.
The outstanding tracks on the album are certainly the Mad World of hit singles, Pale Shelter and Change. Typical of Tears For Fears dominate synth sounds, acoustic guitars and clear chants of Orzabal and Smith. Tears For Fears act here's a little rougher and not as accessible as on the later albums, but this is exactly the charm of The Hurting.
The second CD contains B-sides and remixes, which were partially so no longer obtain. In particular, the extended version of Pale Shelter is terrific.
Who are not yet the album for some reason on the shelf, which should get this one!
