I found various interesting stories and generally of good quality but very uneven quality from one chapter to another. Some allusions to the ring are sometimes a bit farfetched and absolutely author sought to show the pervasiveness of the ring in almost all cultures and civilizations with introduction .... I quote "The truth of the Tolkien Ring has its origins in ancient, ancient legends even formed before the erection of the Egyptian pyramids or walls of Babylon: those of "the quest of the Ring" ... Well, it must sell but do not push Grandma in the nettles (as my grandmother would say!)
The fact remains that Chapter X on "Nibelungenlied" qualified written Iliad of the Germanic peoples in 1200 and real "Lay of the fall of the House Nibelung" and the superb illustrations (some color) Alan Lee (The Illustateur with a capital "i" Tolkien and Faërie) alone are worth the purchase of this item. Lovers (which I am) so disburse nearly 40 euros for a treat (a bit expensive for my taste) but will not regret it ...
