On the form, I especially liked the book layout - modern - and its square format. I have a little less like the cards that are too dark and sometimes not make easy reading but it is a very minor fault. In substance, the text is well written Christophe Dutrône - which is not so common nowadays - and very synthetic, while remaining accessible to the lay reader. It talks about tactics, strategy, but also the experiences of the protagonists of this terrible final episode of the war in Europe. The care taken in the precise identification of places, units and equipment in the legend of the many illustrations accompanying the text is remarkable. The issue of rape of German women by Soviet soldiers, but also Westerners, is discussed in a nuanced but without pretense. In summary, this is a very good (and beautiful) book, richly illustrated with photographs and antique testimonies mostly unpublished, which I can not attributing five stars.
