"Head over Heels" excited primarily by the enormous variety of styles, layered guitar lines and the aforementioned, equally aggressive and atmospheric sound - all the more surprising when you consider that the Cocteau Twins in this album actually 'only' as duo acted and Turner also attended along with the known 4AD-team fryer / himself to the studio work. the mysterious opener "When mama what moth" with its distinctive drum blasts and moody guitar riffs is the journey musical initially to echo cascades of "Five Ten fiftyfold" and the almost-pop hit "Sugar Hiccup", then with "in our Anglo-hood "and" in the gold rush dush two straight rock tees aufzufahren ". Liz Fraser is just off the status goth diva, the duo suggests the following pieces but a completely different direction - classical 'stream of consciousness' characterizes the percussive "The Tinderbox", "multifoiled" and "my love paramour" come even as a successful cross-over experiments therefore. the brutal final chord follows in the form of "Musette and Drums" - a conflagration with garlands-moderate feedback, this time packed in a bigger-than-life production.
The remastering reinforced with regards to sound technically already very good original album the bass and reverb effects again. omitted one has, unfortunately, the 4 bonus tracks on the first edition of the CD, all of which are very rewarding and of the ep "Sunburst and Snowblind" originated. the bonus tracks can be purchased on various compilations and singles collections, still a shame. interesting to note that ex-bassist wants Heggie lowlife with its formation and the album "permanent sleep" almost exactly the sound of "Head over Heels" took up. The album is the culmination and simultaneously the completion of the 'rock' of phase Cocteau Twins.
