A bit of a disappointment ...

... Is the XL2 TomTom for me.
When it comes to navigation, the XL2 is certainly to use. Especially for people who want to have it "easy". The new menu has actually only one option and that is to navigate a route. For me, it was too little.
Compared to the One / XL products missing the menu, in my opinion, elementary functions. Some were already in previous reviews gennant, but I list here again everything on what I missed:

- No way to adjust the display (dim), either day or night mode
- You can watch the navigated route not as text or as demonstration
- No POI or POI management (it is either before all POIs or before warned even none)
- It is not possible to select how you want to have the route calculated (ie pedestrians or without motorways etc)
- It also lacks the possibility of a route creation, although you can enter via points, but only one (my experience)
- This unit has no more LED that indicates the charging activity, the device must be switched on and should after three minutes without connection to the PC faster recharge; (lt instructions.) has not worked for me. All in all, the battery management rather poor.

The list could be continued, but that would go beyond the scope here.

My advice for this device:
Who needs a simple navigation system, which can strike here certainly, but must be aware that you are dealing with a very rudimentary type of menu design and navigation. The operation of the device is, however, at a fast pace thanks to the new menu. But anyway, for me the question why TomTom has implemented here is no fall-back to the "old" Menu structure (can introduce the other menu there are not (lt. TomTom Support), or the solution of the One / XL uses devices.
I have already given my device back and will typically switch to the XL, as there is the menu scope better and more extensive.

I forgive this 3 stars because the device does what it is intended, namely navigate. When it comes to configuration and settings but 2 stars must be deducted here.
TomTom would do well to the new menu structure so to miss a few updates since the approach is quite true, but so far not really contribute to satisfaction.

In the comments, a user wrote that there should have been a firmware update, the sometimes detailed dimming options and navigation options regarding highway "yes" or "no" to have been added. I can not tell, because I no longer possess the device, but I would be pleased if the User could confirm another. I wish it to anyone future buyer and also to anyone who has persevered !!!
Perhaps the numerous reviews here have helped with Amazon that TomTom has made this update ..... but who knows so well ;-)
