First, there is the title ... a provocative anything, it will scare some. What's good, or damage, from the point of view that we adopt. The ideas in this book are based on advances in quantum physics, as well as some theories arising from it (because, mind you, it is no end of theories AS). The author makes the link between these theories and Buddhist thought, and reached a level of conceptualization rare. Personally, I found it exciting, even if the understanding of some passages is difficult or because it uses relatively advanced scientific concepts (we salute in passing the obvious and commendable effort to make it as accessible as possible, experimentation with patterns in physics and illustrations) or because it is based on culturally distant concepts that confuse reason, or our usual logic. And yet ... I wanted to write a comment about this book, which is rare. I previously read several books related to what the author calls "quantum mysticism" (Gregg Braden and others ....) enrolling in a New Age logic, and developing fairly simple and naive ideas, but terribly saleswomen. Here Darjeeling Lama Rinpoche not spared this movement that chips away happily, which may seem paradoxical given the ideas developed in his work; but ultimately, it is a book full of paradoxes ... and personally, I find that his theories are more advanced, less naive to borrow the term used earlier, even at times very "materialistic" . In terms of paradoxes or contradictions, the author's position on free will seems to have need additional bracing. Indeed, and to fast, the author agrees with the theory of "block universe", where everything is already predetermined in advance. According to this view, free will is an illusion, because everything in a given universe, is already "pre-calculated" including our choice. To achieve real change, it becomes necessary to "changing world" (the quotes are important ...). But if we follow this logic to the end, even our desire to "change universe" should already be pre-determined, and not constitute a real choice. So there is no possible freedom in this view because our will out of the frame is already included in the framework ... and even though it would be realized, this would also be in a predetermined direction! I wish I could call the author on this topic ... and other, surpassing my understanding! Finally, in nod to the author and his work, and with a slight irony, I would say: - This book is interesting. - This book is not interesting. - This book is interesting and not interesting. - This book is neither interesting nor interesting.
... But one thing is certain: if you have an open mind, it will make you think.
