Customer Review

"The yellow birds" a literary debut, which is unrivaled. A book that "grotesque" of war shows in great detail and even more wins by striking language of the author of intensity and the reader touching and full of terror in the face of destiny of his protagonist, Private John Bartle, leaves.

Kevin Power takes for these horrors of war words and phrases that attracts what happened more intensely felt machen.Private John Bartle with 21 in the Iraq war, certainly not knowing what erwartet.Doch surpasses him there the reality everything. The dead lying on the street or in the fields are not cleared, but decay in place. Humanity is here not asked but solely the Überleben.Jeden day struggles you therefore not to be taken and leaves nothing to chance. Since it punctured the bodies, to make sure that this person is really dead, or not a bomb with him hat..Da civilians are taken, old men, women and children, because they do not happen all get in the way with stehen.Doch this life clear, be sensitive and therefore careless and pay with the Tod.So as Johns 18 year friend who finds death, which seems to him like a release. But John, he falls into a deep emotional crisis. Has he not given Murphs mother's promise to bring him alive and healthy home.

This debut of the author Kevin Powers, which carries autobiographical clearly shows the wounds suggests the war the soldiers who arrived home, no longer able to have a normal life, perhaps even commit suicide.
The wonderful language of the author makes the book a wonderful reading experience, in spite of all the atrocities that reveals the story. "The yellow birds" is a reading treasure that you should not miss.
