The 13th Warrior (The 13th Warrior) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The filming of "Eaters of the Death" were far from gone properly and therefore the Regiesseur made a radical step, called the film "The 13th Warrior" and changed his choice in a composer for the soundtrack of this film and he hit full in the Black!

Goldsmith provides here an adventure score, as it should be, a prime example of the Hollywood dream factory. Here one really remembers but what a champion he was and come close that room and Co. not nearly to this compositional quality. Goldsmith provides a purely orchestral score, which sounds nice epochal. Full in tone and with some reverb, which gives the whole music much wealth. Actually, the music includes only two topics: The main theme, which is apparently associated with all 13 heroes and a campaign issue. Especially the main theme is beautifully managed, with choir and horn, but once interpreted with trombone. The campaign theme is impressive and know very violent passages in Action. It is served in everything, even scary parts are not forgotten, as "Eaters of the Death" or "Mother Wendol's Cave", briefly: Goldsmith has created a prime example.

The true main character of the film is a young Arab, and on whose oriental origin is Jerry Goldsmith skillfully. He creates some typical oriental passages, but with an orchestra, but also some exotic instruments, which then stand out played. Overall, however, everything is very beautiful harmony and also the main theme corresponds to European harmony and the modern notions of heroic pieces so, you should here expect no music, which actually corresponds to the former music tastes, such as partially "Ben Hur", but does not hurt that the the least because it is discussed here perfectly to the film and creates the music really foggy gloomy or warm oriental atmosphere.

The CD includes the almost complete score, missing me only the Sück noticed where the young Arabs showing off his riding skills and the place where the seer exclaims the 13 people. However, since even the main theme is played, which is heard in the first song "Old Baghdad" and "Old Baghdad" in turn was not played in the film. The pieces are all arranged in chronological order from the film, which is very nice for the listening pleasure as well. In the single releases of "Star Wars" -Reieh the pieces were mixed up and they had no idea where in the movie you because was now. The booklet is given a informatieven accompanying and a few photos. Not particularly outstanding, but what does it matter if the CD is able to enjoy a so? Correct: Nothing ...

All in all, therefore remains for me to say: Who is on composition quality of the old school and has a weakness for exotic, heroic and sinister sounds, you should consider purchasing. Each Goldsmith fan too! This CD is worth the money!
