This young writer of 32 years, which is the first published novel, is Associate Professor of letters & Literature Classics & ... & his style suffers !!! Unlike his brother, who is for me (& for many others ...) the perfect writer of pulp fiction like so many Levy & Pancol, Valentin Musso has a beautiful style, looking, clean & extremely fluid .
Where William became known for works bland & not very interesting (in my opinion), Valentin surprised by the finesse & the high quality of his thriller that grabs you literally.
The psychology of the characters is incredibly well worked, the plot is so involved that one can not let go of the book. The construction of the novel is perfectly mastered & we let gladly take in these two investigations in parallel. One written in the 1st person, in Cauterets, by Vincent Nimier; the other written in the 3rd person in Nice by Lieutenant Néraudeau. Needless to say that the two investigations will join ...
The themes are obviously interested me much: gifted children, relationships, family secrets. But it is essentially the way these subjects are envisaged which is exciting!
Rhythm removed, plot extremely well put together & eventful, disturbing atmosphere. All the essential elements in the development of an efficient & taking thriller are there, no doubt. In 2 words: suspense guaranteed!
And nothing to spoil, as I mentioned earlier, I really enjoyed the quality of writing style is outstanding, with an impressive finesse.
