The new CD produced + composed by Barry Gibb, is in fact up to two to three songs a "lightweight", but this of fascinating diversity. And one is amazed: "lightweight" in this case is an absolute advantage, because this kind of music can produce endorphins !!!
Each song by Barry Gibb is in itself is something special, and very different from the next. Barry + Barbra surprise with the außergewöhnlichstem song on the CD,
"All The Children".
In one of them fundamentally new sound garb mingle in the instrumentation Arabic, Indian and Celtic sounds.
Barbra's voice blends perfectly with its radiant brightness. And "Brightness" is the key word for this CD
There are bright, light songs, almost all arranged sparingly but optimal. Streisand's voice sounds, with a few exceptions, young, unspent, relax. It radiates even in the heights, as surrounded by glistening light. There are almost in every song a passage in which they at least briefly, "extends really" her voice. Holding "excessive singing" is not to listen to this CD. Well done: Streisand's voice quality has of course changed in over 40 years of unparalleled career ... As for Power + endurance, .. but not in the magic of specific, streisand'schen expression.
Long one has heard Barbra Streisand sing no longer such a good mood. "Guilty Pleasures" was an album with great musical color to song themes and musical styles. In the midst of a differentiated, contemporary pop-acoustic accompaniment sounds the familiar Streisandstimme suddenly younger. Even modern and of effortless as you remembered them.
The duet "Come Tomorrow" is a hit with its Reminizenzen to American pop style of the fifties. Heard a few times, the melody does not go out of my head. In addition, especially in this song is especially good to hear: The Sound
and the entire recording technique is excellent. Just perfect! The flow so sick and inspiring from the loudspeaker settings ren, one might ever turn up.
In the second duet with Barry "Above the Law," Barbra sounds downright sexy + flirtatious. The video (on the Dual-Disc Version) confirmed this yet visually.
"Hideaway", a song with gentle bossa nova sounds, she sings so beautiful dream, as if it came from another planet on which live only Angel.
"Golden Dawn" is for me (besides "Letting Go"), a vocal highlight of the CD!
Yes, it's a simple song, the melody seems superficially easy, it acts like a benahe folksong. And Barbra sings frills "straight". Her voice still possesses a magical beauty.
"Letting Go", certainly not unintentionally the last song of this "slight" CD is, finally, vocally and content "of Heavy Loads" !!
"It's so hard to let go," she sings seriously + sad. You have believed every word.
Surrounded by only the most economical monitoring, you hear the faintest echo of a word. In keeping with the dramatic increase of the text, her voice is loud, plaintive,
and falls into the heights and its limits.
The video (only on the included DualDisc), is a revelation. With such an idea is Barbra Streisand, among many, certainly talented singers, for me still on a limb .... alone! The song is so grandiose interpreted by the 63 year old Streisand I (in euphoria) say: Celine, Whitney, Madonna, Cher and other girls Singer:. Tucked you, and never makes more your mouths!
"Guilty Pleasures" exceeded my expectations. Two masters of their craft have created a wonderful mainstream album. I wonder why did Barbra Streisand us with some of their recent "Streicher sauces CDs" so bored when they do something like this !!!!
Conclusion: The all-round artist Streisand has regenerated with 63 years and positively surprised "Guilty Pleasures" with Adult Pop, Disco, (6 mega-remixes of "Night of My Light" on vinyl), bossa nova / Calypso, middle East-Ethno-Style, "50s
Year-Doo-Woop sound "and of course ballads.
Grown this versatile repertoire at any time, she sings as always engaged, but also with wonderful relaxed ease and hear the joy through all the styles!
