This book is ideal for people who, when talking about other "Compiling a New Kernel" of either think "why should I do that, my distribution kernel has everything I need" or "I would like to do, but that sounds like a lot too complicated to ". This book tells you how to (the source files) will download to the kernel, you need for programs to even recompile the kernel, how to configure its boot loader (which is also very important) and how to get out is what kind of hardware you have ever and what drivers you have to enable it in the kernel. In addition, it briefly summarizes the entire menu items in the configuration where you as a beginner certainly would often get out due to the sheer amount of options at once. What I did not like about the book is the relatively high price for it probably only the first few times (or from the beginning not at all) and never again need information. Also I have read that one time or another feel some things exactly the same in the kernel documentation. For people who already have idea how to build your own kernel or generally no problems, the documentation has to bring otherwise the book is not recommended. Personally, I then lacked even the precise reference to "git" as a means to the kernel source to get (and keep up to date).
