By alternating chapters carefully controlled, the author skillfully blends the frames of 3 key periods of the existence of Villon (before the acquisition of temporal anomalies during his initiation and before going into battle, its actual fight) which creates a flashback / constant projection effect that is not uninteresting, and enables early to discuss key elements and concepts that leave reflected the future, giving our imagination the opportunity to fill the periods yet describe. But unlike those who see the will to stick to a narrative theme (dis) structuring its rhythm, I have rather seen the journey of a diary found after the death of the person concerned, and read scattered manner. This does not pose a problem to me to follow the story, but I understand those that could disturb or even put off.
Readable on both quality writing, it is easily sucked into the atmosphere of piracy and result in very just descriptions of the time (helpful as shown in the list of books that formed the basis for the author). The feather quality is only there to serve the story, and I have at no time felt the side "bombastic" criticized by some.
It was a good novel for this summer, inspired me to continue the adventure with Stéphane Beauverger buying Chromozome his trilogy, playing (and reviews to follow ...).
