A good first tome 1

For this book, I first completely cracked on the cover when it was announced. It is true that I usually am not a fan of that kind, but there, though! And as I had already read books of the author and I had loved his pen, I did not do me too afraid to buy it. So I enjoyed the book fair of Saint-Malo to see and buy his latest book.

Enfenia is an excluded any island. No one can enter or leave. Outside, a leviathan monitors and makes the slightest gesture and became his guardian as his jailer. While the people perpetuating the usual ritual, an alien is found on the beach. Where does it come from? Who is she? Can we trust him?

Accustomed to the entire universe and sought his other fantasy saga, I was surprised at first to see that this book it was more oriented youth. I'm not saying it was not much sought after, eh, but ... even if I liked it I missed something.

In this novel, we follow several external points of view, and which allow us to better know the characters and focus on them. Even though I loved them all, with a preference for Syon I was not able fully to attach myself to them. I have not found their psychology was pushed enough and that the author had stayed a little too on the surface, which is a shame.

Syon is a character that we learn to hate from the perspective of Nel, who can not stand it, because of his character. It is true that it is quite stubborn and he has a big mouth. But instead, through the pages, I really enjoyed it. He knows where he goes, what he wants, making him someone determined and frank, unlike Nel.

For her, it is clear that I had more trouble getting used to it. She may have to carry on the family ritual, it remains without meaning a teenager by his reactions and words. Certainly, I can understand that she has trouble trusting Syon, who has ideas different from his well, but they cohabit together, the more it remains on its guard, while precisely, she should trust him and learn to know him. It also is bounded, but the wrong way.

As for the unknown well ... She is very engaging, and that it knows nothing of the island but also of itself, makes one appreciate even more. We want the hatching to take her in our arms, tell him all these things she does not know. As if it was a child who was learning everything about life.

If the beginning of the novel is fairly simple and calm, the second part takes a much more interesting scale and we learn many things at the same time as the characters and that's what I like: to be as surprised as they or more. Here, Samantha Bailly offers us a first volume which might seem simple at first, although deep, history and dates are important in advancing the narrative.

In summary, I enjoyed reading this, although I would have liked to see the further side of "Prayers", although I know that this is not at all the same thing! He may be young, we feel that the author has ideas behind the head and wants to share with us, but gradually, which holds the reader spellbound and gives a significant edge suspense. The characters have their own character, but we realize that after a while they are made to travel together and discover unknown lands to them. Now I'm curious to read more, since the end leaves a little to be desired. We want to know more.
