Old sock (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Before I begin my actual review, I would like to again take cure to what others have written here on this CD.
When I heard purely in the songs just before buying the album, I had almost feared that there are some that are tearing this CD in the air. It is now just about the curse, have to live with the musician legends like Clapton. When they go into the studio to record a new album, many expect the umpteenth milestone that puts everything else in the shade foregoing. I am a long time fan of Clapton and love his music, it is what he has done in the past with Cream, Blind Faith, John Mayall and also solo and I'm still a great admirer of him.
In my opinion, he has 68 years no longer has to prove anything, but it can afford to simply make music, to which he himself has fun and just as something has arisen in this album. The very title "Old Sock" is evidence of a significant degree of self-irony.
Clapton has some well-known colleagues, also mostly "old socks", drummed and who had heard just enjoy it, take these 12 songs together.
I shall not go into any detail now. They are all easy with each other well and it gives me a lot of fun to listen to this CD. I can not even tell which song for now is my absolute favorite. The only two new numbers, "Gotta Get Over" and Every Little Thing "are any class of its own. In particular, in the latter is the part mentioned in the singing Clapton's daughters. It sounds a little childish oblique, but you can hear clearly, that the two girls had as much fun as her father.
Excited I was to his version of "Still Got The Blues" and I have to say, really well. No firecrackers as the original by Gary Moore, but rather quiet and reserved and in this way a very nice tribute to the sadly died too soon Moore.
Glorious is also "Goodnight Irene". The old popular song was certainly not durchgenudelt whom already from God knows everything, now including Eric Clapton. One can also in its version wonderfully sing (or growls after the tenth beer also and sway) and yet it is something else again, he plays the song.
Conclusion of the whole: I like Clapton as Blue Rocker and I like him, he simply makes time very relaxed music, as on this album here. I will certainly listen to it more often, and hope that he will stay with us for a long time as a musician and person.
