This is actually an unlikely cross between:
- Zelda, to the overall structure of the game, with its dungeons, its enigmas, some artifacts, the possibility of an enemy locker;
- God of War, for clean fighting gameplay elements: the combo system, the finish moves, the ability to upgrade the capacity of its character.
The mixture is a little surprising, but we must admit that this gives us an action / adventure extremely interesting.
We can highlight several very significant points:
- The graphic qualities are based mainly on a great job of convincing design and visual effects. This is not necessarily a technical slap, but it's clean and there is no need for a racing machine to run the game.
- Although quite accessible, the game still offers a good challenge in fighting. The more our character evolves, the more enemies hit hard and it is necessary to proceed with caution and not go out combos to chance.
- Without being transcendental, the scenario writing quality testifies still a desire to stage charismatic characters in a particular universe.
- In addition to graphics, it should be noted the presence of an excellent soundtrack and a French dubbing in good order.
- The lifetime is quite honest: I put about 23 hours to finish the game on Normal difficulty.
Concerning this PC edition
- It is necessary to have a Steam account to install and activate the game. [1]
This point probably risk of upsetting some but personally I enjoyed that this integration allows to unlock Steam Achievements during the game.
- I recommend the use of a joystick. The XBox 360 wired controller is of course 100% compatible.
- Are also included the soundtrack and a digital comic. A preferred bonus.
- No manual in paper form. Again, this is in digital format.
To conclude, I would say Darksiders stands out as an excellent choice in the genre "Action / Adventure" and I look forward to the release of Darksiders II, scheduled for 2012.
