For the last about three months, I am in possession of small Fiskars and would now like to describe a few impressions about this also:
- The size of the X5 is quite amazing: hardly longer than a man's hand including the wrist, while the ax head is about the size of a smartphone.
- The Fiber-handle is hollow and the violets, despite the low weight prima top-heavy
- The coating of the head is very high
- The first focus was sufficient to shave the underarm !!!
- The provided Canvas sheath for transporting the belt seems durable and high quality, only the Velcro is not an ideal solution. This will certainly soon subside. Here, a push button would have been more appropriate!
Practice:
- The right light weight requires orderly momentum with which the beats are executed
- The beaten notches are relatively deep and clean
- The coating prevents sticking the head in the wood
- The Fiber handle absorbs the recoil of the blows very well (no vibration)
- Batoning with the knife will never be necessary again, if you have the Fiskars here because split firewood is the purest joy!
- Cleaning and sharpening are also for "beginners" easy to carry out (or Diamond Sharpener Fiskars ax and knife sharpener)
- Deep seat of the holster to the belt, creating a long-term wear high comfort is guaranteed. Nothing pricks in the hip, and the short length of the thigh also no problem when you sit down!
Disadvantages:
- As already mentioned, the Velcro
- Lead the short length of the handle COULD by careless handling means that you look at work the ankle hitting ... (but gloves are already duty at work and CAUTION paramount!)
Conclusion: the X5 is the perfect small ax for outdoor, camping or the small garden! If you can live with the tiny size and not very durable velcro, will find the perfect little companion!
Who's looking for a size larger and classic, engages certainly Gränsfors Bruks or other manufacturers.
Nevertheless unlimited recommendation!
